Senior Transmission Line Engineer

Overview Our client, a well-established engineering consulting firm, is seeking an experienced Senior Transmission Line Engineer to lead high-voltage transmission projects. The candidate will perform detailed design and modeling using PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE, develop key engineering deliverables, oversee design documentation, ensure compliance with industry standards, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, and support field activities and risk mitigation. The role includes managing full project lifecycles, interfacing with utility clients, and ensuring delivery meets schedule, budget, and quality expectations. Candidates must hold a PE license, have strong expertise in PLS-CADD/PLS-POLE, and possess experience with 69kV+ systems in a utility or EPC environment. Location: Full‑time position available in Walnut Creek, CA and/or Sacramento, CA. Salary $165,000 - $180,000 Benefits Health coverage, including medical, dental, and vision PTO + paid holidays 401(k) Voluntary supplemental insurance options Career growth opportunities Employee discounts and perks Responsibilities Lead transmission line engineering efforts across multiple utility projects Perform detailed design and modeling using PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE Develop engineering deliverables including routing, profiles, structure loading, and sag‑tension calculations Review and oversee construction packages and design documentation Ensure compliance with client standards and industry codes (e.g., NESC) Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams (civil, structural, substation) Support construction and field activities as needed Identify technical risks early and provide mitigation solutions Support full lifecycle project execution from concept through delivery Interface directly with utility clients Participate in project status meetings and technical reviews Ensure deliverables meet schedule, budget, and quality expectations Mentor junior and mid‑level engineers and designers Provide technical guidance and quality control oversight Support hiring and team development initiatives Contribute to internal engineering best practices Requirements 7–15+ years of transmission line engineering experience Professional Engineer (PE) license REQUIRED Strong experience with PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE Experience with 69kV+ transmission systems Ability to lead technical efforts while remaining hands‑on Experience in utility or EPC transmission engineering environments Experience serving as Engineer of Record (preferred) Experience supporting reconductoring or maintenance programs (preferred) Prior experience working with large utilities (preferred) ACS Professional Staffing will provide equal employment opportunities to all applicants without regard to the applicant’s race, color, religion, sex, gender, genetic information, national origin, age, veteran status, disability status, or any other status protected by federal or state law.
