SUBSTITUTE: REGISTERED NURSE - CONTINUOUS RECRUITMENT

Substitute Registered Nurse: 10-Month School Calendar Position

RN positions involve caring for the medical needs of students placed in BOCES classrooms which are located in a Special Education Host Site program. Assistance with all medical aspects of the students' day is expected.

Responsibilities include:

• Planning for periodic examinations and screening procedures as required by State Law and Board of Education Policy.
• Assisting the School Physician with physical, visual, audio screening examinations of students and employees.
• Administering first aid and emergency treatment to students and employees.
• Performing medical procedures prescribed by doctors for students.
• Appraising the mental and physical health status of pupils through observation and analysis of records on a continuing basis.
• Assisting in feeding and care of students with disabilities.
• Preparing, maintaining and sharing information on Cumulative Health Records with appropriate staff.
• Arranging transportation of sick or injured students or employees to hospital or home.
• Ordering inventory and overseeing the storage of first aid and related health supplies and equipment.
• Assisting the administrator in planning and maintaining a safe, healthful school environment, including the establishment and implementation of emergency care procedures.
• Participating in the development of policies to improve and protect the health of students and school personnel.
• Preparing records and reports as required.
• Seeking professional development opportunities to further growth.
• Carrying out all other duties as assigned.
