About the Position: This is a Project Manager position with the Army Corps of Engineers, Kansas City District. You will lead the coordination and execution of communication and outreach efforts associated with the Department of Veterans Affairs John Cochran Hospital Replacement Program Mega Project. This landmark investment is one of the region's most significant healthcare infrastructure efforts, transforming the current facilities into a modern medical campus serving Veterans for generations.

Duties

Help

• Managing efficient and effective coordination of assigned projects.
• Applying an extensive knowledge of management concepts, principles, methods, practices, and processes of engineering and science disciplines.
• Negotiating and integrating all District functions, sponsor/customer needs, and other agencies' commitments in support of assigned project into a comprehensive management plan.
• Coordinating the planning, design, cost engineering, construction, and environmental restoration, etc. for engineering projects of substantial scope and complexity.
• Controlling and managing project milestones and budgets from planning through construction and initial operations.
• Serving as the primary point of contact for projects assigned with sponsor/customer.
• Leading efforts to develop and execute a strategic plan for outreach efforts, public and stakeholder involvement, and other public involvement initiatives to increase awareness of local impacted communities.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes managing the needs and commitments of various stakeholders into a comprehensive management plan; establishing project scope, including parties, assumptions and risks, contingencies, and performance measurement criteria; coordinating all aspects of engineering projects of substantial scope and complexity; AND managing budgets throughout the duration of projects. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For the GS-12 grade level, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience aloneno substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
