Communications Coordinator Employer: South Dakota Corn Growers Association and South Dakota Corn Utilization Council Location: Sioux Falls, South Dakota Job Type: Full-time Pay: $45,000-$60,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience Classification: Salaried, non-exempt; eligible for overtime and benefits Reports To: Senior Director of Marketing & Communications Position Overview The South Dakota Corn Growers Association and South Dakota Corn Utilization Council are seeking a creative, organized, and motivated Communications Coordinator to join our team in Sioux Falls. In this role, you will help tell the story of South Dakota agriculture through social media, photography, video, publications, events, and other communications channels. Working closely with the Senior Director of Marketing & Communications, you will support initiatives that educate consumers, promote South Dakota's corn farmers, and communicate the work of both organizations. This position offers a wide variety of responsibilities and opportunities to build experience in agricultural communications, marketing, media relations, publications, event coordination, and digital content creation. The ideal candidate enjoys balancing creative work with project coordination and is comfortable managing multiple priorities. What You'll Do Events and Consumer Outreach Represent South Dakota Corn at consumer outreach events, trade shows, fairs, and educational activities. Assist with event planning, logistics, setup, teardown, and development of promotional materials. Help coordinate annual events and other special programs. Order, organize, and maintain marketing and outreach materials. Social Media and Digital Communications Create, schedule, publish, and monitor social media content across multiple platforms. Develop graphics and short-form content using Canva and Adobe Creative Suite. Monitor audience engagement and identify opportunities to increase reach and engagement. Update website content and help ensure online information remains accurate and current. Support digital communications campaigns and special projects. Publications Assist with coordinating the production of Emerge magazine, which is published twice annually. Collaborate with graphic designers, printers, freelance writers, and other vendors. Maintain mailing lists and ensure distribution information remains accurate. Proofread publication content and assist with quality control. Photography and Video Capture photographs and video at meetings, events, farm visits, and other activities. Edit photographs and videos for social media, websites, presentations, and print publications. Organize and maintain the organizations' digital photo and video library. Media and Communications Support Coordinate Corn Comments radio recording schedules, including arranging interviews and delivering materials to participating partners. Draft newsletters, email communications, fact sheets, promotional materials, and other content. Monitor agriculture and industry news using Google Alerts and other tools. Compile news clips for the weekly Executive Director report. Project and Administrative Support Maintain communications calendars, project timelines, and production schedules. Communicate with vendors and partners regarding communications projects. Assist with special campaigns and organization-wide initiatives. Perform other communications-related duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in communications, agricultural communications, journalism, marketing, public relations, or a related field. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational, time-management, and project-coordination abilities. Proficiency with Microsoft Office. Familiarity with social media platforms and social media management tools. Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously. Willingness and ability to travel throughout South Dakota, including occasional overnight travel. Preferred Qualifications Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, including InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, or Premiere Pro. Experience creating graphics in Canva. Photography, videography, or basic video-editing experience. Experience updating content through a website content management system. Experience coordinating publications or print projects. Knowledge of agriculture or a strong interest in learning about South Dakota agriculture. What We Offer Competitive salary of $45,000-$60,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.
