Job Type: Full-time Job Description Performs both routine and complex histologic techniques such as enzyme histochemistry, immunohistochemistry, in-situ hybridization, and immunofluorescence on tissue samples for microscopic examination by a pathologist to diagnose disease. Must be knowledgeable in the areas of pathology, management, education, and regulations that impact the field of histotechnology. Job Responsibilities Perform all duties of the technical assistant as necessary, including accessioning Gross patient tissue according to protocol Carefully and efficiently embed tissue according to protocol Produce diagnostically optimal sections at an acceptable rate Perform routine and special stains Perform Immunohistochemistry procedures Perform routine and high complexity testing File paraffin blocks Alert lead tech and supervisor of low inventory of supplies and reagents Perform and document maintenance on equipment Help troubleshoot equipment issues Document quality issues Communicate problems effectively Read and follow all policies and procedures Participate in quality assurance activities Read emails and respond accordingly Engage with everyone in a respectful and professional manner Demonstrate teamwork by assisting others when possible Perform other duties when assigned Evaluate test controls and help troubleshoot problems Help maintain a clean and safe work environment Skills Intermediate computer skills Strong attention to detail Effective and professional communication Ability to multi-task Excellent organizational skills Certifications: HT, HTL, ASCP Licenses: N/A Physical Demands Ability to lift 50lbs Walking – frequently Standing frequently Sitting – occasionally Pushing – frequently Pulling – occasionally Carrying – frequently Stooping – occasionally Crawling – N/A Shift Availability 2nd and Third Shift Available 12pm – 8:30 pm 9pm – 5:30 am Requirements Histology Program Completion 3 years of histology bench experience performing high complexity testing minimum 3 years of histology bench experience performing high complexity testing and ASCP certification preferred #J-18808-Ljbffr
