Lateral Conflicts Attorney

Overview King & Spalding is a leading global law firm that leverages technology and talented professionals to serve clients across multiple legal disciplines and geographic locations. We are seeking a Lateral Conflicts Attorney to join our Conflicts & Business Review Department as part of the Firm’s General Counsel’s Office. The successful candidate will work closely with the Associate Director of Lateral Conflicts and a team of attorneys to support the firm’s lateral hiring function. Key Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive reviews of conflict questionnaires and conflict reports to identify and resolve potential business and ethical conflicts before lateral attorneys join the firm or transfer work. Draft and review conflict memoranda, waiver letters, and notice letters; advise on conflicts of interest analysis and related firm policies. Communicate required next steps to lawyers and staff prior to a lateral attorney’s entry to the firm. Advise on matters under the rules of professional responsibility. Work with lateral candidates and firm personnel to facilitate onboarding and transfer of matters. Respond promptly to incoming inquiries and shifting priorities. Compare and analyze large volumes of information under tight deadlines. Assist with additional duties or projects assigned by the Associate Director of Lateral Conflicts or Director of Conflicts & New Business Intake. Qualifications Juris Doctorate (J.D.) and an active law license in the jurisdiction in which the candidate is located. Minimum three years of legal work experience after law school preferred. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Exceptional critical thinking, problem‑solving, and organizational skills. Strong working knowledge of the rules of professional conduct. Sound judgment, ability to respond promptly, and perform well under pressure while adapting to changing priorities and deadlines. Prior conflicts experience (reviewing conflict reports, researching corporate affiliations, drafting waivers, advising on conflict or relationship issues) is preferred but not required. Additional Requirements Primary availability during business hours from 8:30a.m. to 5:00p.m. (EST) with flexibility to work outside this schedule as needed. Periodic on‑call rotation required. Remote work option subject to location approval by the firm. Occasional travel to the Atlanta office may be required. Compensation & Benefits Pay Transparency Range: Full‑time annualized salary $145,000‑$160,000 in New York, Washington, DC, Chicago, Denver, Sacramento, Los Angeles, SanFrancisco, Silicon Valley. Generous total compensation package including bonuses and raises awarded in recognition of individual merit‑based performance.
