You’re someone who enjoys keeping the numbers accurate, staying organized, and knowing that behind-the-scenes work helps a business run smoothly. At Ruese Insurance Agency , you’ll join an agency that has been protecting businesses, farms, and families since 1886, with a team that believes relationships matter just as much as getting the details right.

As our Accountant , your day will include processing payroll, handling accounts payable and receivable, preparing bank deposits, posting journal entries, and reconciling the general ledger. You’ll also help manage month-end closing and keep financial records accurate. We’re looking for someone who takes pride in their work but is also ready to learn how our agency operates and contribute wherever their accounting knowledge is needed.

We have 18 employees across three office locations, with weekly staff meetings that keep communication and culture front and center. We work to maintain a relaxed environment where people can manage their workflow, prioritize family, and enjoy the workweek with activities like theme days, trivia, and team games.

The pay is $50,000-$55,000 based on experience for a 37.5-hour workweek, Monday through Friday. You’ll also have PTO, health, life, and disability insurance, a 401(k), and paid holidays. As you grow with the agency, there may be opportunities to take on Accounting Manager duties or explore other roles.

Responsibilities

• Process payroll accurately and on schedule.
• Prepare and record bank deposits.
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable.
• Post journal entries and support month-end closing.
• Reconcile the general ledger.
• Balance checkbooks and maintain accurate financial records.
• Handle additional accounting duties as needed.

Requirements

• Associate degree or equivalent in accounting, finance, or a related field.
• Two or more years of accounting experience preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
• Comfortable learning the agency management system’s accounting functions.
• Ready to contribute and work collaboratively with the team.
