Location: Fredericksburg, VA | Schedule: Full-time, on-site, 8am-5pm M-F (contract, 3 months with potential for permanent placement) | Compensation: Not specified Overview A healthcare services provider is seeking a Phlebotomist to join its laboratory team on a contract basis with potential for permanent hire. This role is essential to ensuring accurate specimen collection and handling, supporting quality patient care and reliable diagnostic testing. What you'll do Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, and record maintenance and decontamination data Update patient information as needed Collect and store specimens according to established procedures Clearly and courteously explain the venipuncture process and other specimen collection methods (e.g., urine or fecal) to patients Demonstrate technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles Fully understand and follow physicians' orders Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes; label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy Package specimens for transport Store specimen samples at required temperatures, place samples in appropriate collection containers/tubes, accurately label them, and follow protocol-specific procedures to maintain specimen integrity during transport Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations Attend annual department trainings Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries Assist with various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and workflow recommendations Required qualifications Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment, as required in some states Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting Minimum 2 years of experience Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite High School Diploma or GED Compensation and benefits Benefits are available Why this role This contract position offers the potential to transition into a permanent role, along with available benefits and hands-on experience in a fast-paced laboratory setting. #J-18808-Ljbffr Software Placement Group, SPG
