Position Senior Cost Estimator — manage a wide range of Design-Build and Design-Bid-Build construction projects throughout the project lifecycle. Responsibilities Work in a team environment for multiple clients with different estimating needs. Develop standard operating procedures/templates for a variety of clients and contracts according to their needs. Independently prepare cost estimates from plans, reports, drawings, and documents from the conceptual stage to final design/construction documents. Develop and prepare conceptual estimates using limited preliminary design documents and information. Collect and maintain historical cost data from past similar projects to improve estimate accuracy. Conduct value analysis, life cycle costing, constructability analysis, cost modeling, and alternatives analysis. Regularly conduct regional market analysis considering work scope, and integration of construction scheduling factors for projects across the continental U.S. Assist project management with the management of project scope, budget, and schedule. Participate in and facilitate group meetings. Required Skills / Abilities Proficiency with cost estimating software (Sage, RS Means, Bluebeam, or similar). Knowledge of vertical construction. Knowledge of State and Federal contracting requirements; Federal Government experience is needed. Understanding of Contract Documents, materials performance, and environmental, legal, and safety responsibilities related to construction. Knowledge of scheduling, cost management, and document control is highly desirable. Knowledge of applicable technology tools. Education and/or Experience Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field. 10+ years in a cost estimating role. Certificates/Licenses Professional Certified Cost Professional (CCP) or Certified Estimating Professional (CEP) preferred. Physical Demands The position typically requires sitting and using hands for most of the day, with periods of standing or walking. Communication activities (talking/listening) are frequent. Occasional climbing, balancing, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling may be needed. Lifting up to 10 pounds on infrequent basis.
