Microbiologist for AI Training [Remote]

Use your microbiology expertise to generate clear, high-quality scientific input that trains and evaluates next-generation AI systems. This remote contractor role focuses on bacterial, fungal, and algal biology, including how microbes interact with disease and respond to antibiotics and other agents. No prior AI experience is required; domain knowledge and precise documentation are the priorities.

• Investigate and analyze development, morphology, and behavior of microscopic organisms, including bacteria, fungi, and algae.
• Contribute to studies of microorganism-disease relationships for projects that involve medical microbiology.
• Assess the effects of antibiotics and other agents on microbial populations and document findings that improve model accuracy.
• Record experimental findings and processes with clarity and consistency so they can be integrated into AI training data.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure scientific rigor and data integrity during AI development.
• Provide written and verbal expertise on microbiological phenomena and their relevance to real-world and computational problems.
• Use rubrics and established evaluation criteria to assess data quality and support annotation and training workflows.

• Bachelor''s degree or higher in Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, or a related field.
• Extensive knowledge of bacterial, fungal, and algal systems, with demonstrated expertise in microbial structure and physiology.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical and interdisciplinary collaboration.
• Proven ability to document processes and findings clearly for integration into computational systems.
• Comfort working independently in a fully remote, digital-first environment, with strong attention to detail and commitment to scientific accuracy.
• Preferred: prior experience developing or applying rubrics in scientific or educational contexts.
• Preferred: experience with AI, machine learning, or annotation projects related to biology or microbiology.
• Preferred: advanced degree, Master’s or PhD, in a relevant field.

$70 - $90 per hour.
