Molecular Biologist for AI Model Training [Remote]

Provide expert molecular biology design and evaluation to create high-quality training data for GenAI models that reason across the life sciences. You will design and justify DNA and RNA constructs, produce domain-grounded solution examples, and assess model outputs for correctness and biological rigor. This role is remote within the United Kingdom and ranges from part-time to full-time, up to 40 hours per week.

• Design and review DNA and RNA sequences and constructs from professional experience, including primers for PCR, qPCR and cloning, plasmids and expression vectors, guide RNA and sgRNA for CRISPR editing, mRNA and other RNA constructs, and HDR or repair templates.
• Author challenging, domain-grounded sequence design tasks with accurate, well-documented expert solutions that serve as ground truth.
• Evaluate AI model outputs by comparing them to expert solutions and provide clear written feedback on correctness, rigor, and biological reasoning.
• Justify sequence-level design choices explicitly, covering guide and target selection, homology arm length, primer melting temperature and specificity, codon optimization, and selection of regulatory elements.
• Collaborate with other subject-matter experts to maintain consistency and accuracy in the training dataset.

• Practicing or recently practicing molecular biologist with hands-on experience designing nucleic-acid constructs prior to experiments, across several of the following: primers, plasmids or vectors, gRNA/sgRNA, mRNA, and HDR or repair templates.
• Experience with cloning strategies such as Gibson assembly, Golden Gate, Gateway, or restriction-based cloning, and with codon optimization.
• Strong record of peer-reviewed publications; first-author work in major journals such as Nature and the Nature family, Cell, eLife, Nucleic Acids Research, PNAS, or EMBO Journal is especially valued. Please include publication links with your application.
• Advanced degree in molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry, synthetic biology, bioengineering, or a related life-science field, PhD strongly preferred.
• Excellent written communication and the ability to justify design choices clearly and rigorously.

• Engagement type: hourly.
• Time commitment: part-time to full-time, up to 40 hours per week.
• Location: fully remote, candidates must be located within the United Kingdom.
• Cohort model: a small group of experts will be onboarded to design and evaluate nucleic-acid sequence tasks. The program plans a fast start and will begin as soon as onboarding is complete.

Hourly rate: 70 to 105 per hour.
