Field Engineering Supervisor

Position OverviewThe Field Engineering Supervisor is responsible for leading Field Engineering staff while providing hands-on technical and project support for the Systems Integration business. This working supervisor role combines people leadership with advanced AV/IT technical expertise to support successful system commissioning, troubleshooting, and project delivery.As a key member of the project and technical team, the Field Engineering Supervisor provides day-to-day direction, coaching, mentorship, and development to Field Engineering staff while partnering with management to improve processes, maintain technical standards, and support operational performance.This is an opportunity for an experienced AV/IT professional to lead and develop technical talent while remaining actively involved in field engineering, system commissioning, programming, and troubleshooting.Skills & Core StrengthsField engineering leadership and team developmentAV/IT system commissioning and troubleshootingControl system configuration and programmingAudio, video, and conferencing systemDSP configuration and troubleshootingTCP/IP networking and digital communication protocolsPerformance management and employee developmentTechnical training and mentorshipProject and resource coordinationProcess improvement and technical standardsClient-focused service deliverySafety, compliance, and quality managementWhat You’ll DoLead the day-to-day activities, performance, and development of assigned Field Engineering staffProvide coaching, mentorship, performance feedback, and technical training to support continued employee developmentEstablish individual responsibilities and maintain accountability for team performanceProvide hands-on field engineering support, including equipment configuration, programming, troubleshooting, commissioning, and documentationPartner with project teams to support successful system installation, testing, commissioning, and project completionWork with management to improve Field Engineering procedures, practices, and technical standardsSupport recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding of Field Engineering team membersEnsure subcontractor work meets company quality standards and applicable requirementsProvide overflow and backup support to Field Engineering and Managed Services teams as neededEnsure staff maintain required licenses and certifications and follow OSHA requirements, industry best practices, and company policiesOversee Field Engineering tools and test equipmentMonitor team utilization and support achievement of the established 80% monthly average billable targetAttend required training and maintain certifications as requiredWhat We’re Looking ForRequired QualificationsAssociate degree or equivalent professional experience4+ years of AV/IT industry experience providing technical or engineering supportStrong leadership, coaching, organizational, and communication skillsAdvanced proficiency with AV/IT software, tools, and test equipmentAdvanced experience setting up and adjusting audio, video, and conferencing systemsAdvanced experience with digital signal processors such as Biamp, BSS, Crestron, Extron, and QSCAdvanced proficiency configuring wired and wireless TCP/IP networksAdvanced proficiency loading, testing, and editing AV control code and graphical user interface filesProficiency with Crestron, Extron, and AMX programming languagesWorking knowledge of Python, HTML, C#Pro, or similar programming languagesWorking knowledge of digital communication protocols including IP, RS232, RS485, and USBAbility to set up and color balance video displaysStrong computer skills, including business applications and multiple operating systemsAbility to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneouslyAbility to travel and work occasional evenings or weekends based on project needsPreferred QualificationsBachelor’s degree2+ years of supervisory or management experienceAVIXA CTS-I or CTS-D certificationCompTIA A+ certification or equivalentRequired CertificationsAVIXA CTS certification, or ability to obtain within one year of accepting the positionCompTIA Network+ certification or greater, or ability to obtain within two years of accepting the positionAbout UsAvidex is a leading player in the audiovisual and IT integration industry, delivering cutting-edge solutions to a diverse range of clients.
