Stony Brook University Hospital, previously known as Stony Brook University Medical Center, is the university hospital of Stony Brook University located in the East Campus in Stony Brook, New York. It is the largest academic medical center on Long Island with 603 beds for patient care.

Duties of a (temporary) Clinical Laboratory Technologist May Include But Are Not Limited To The Following:

• Perform high complexity molecular diagnostic testing using both manual and automated methods
• Perform assays consisting of multiple dilutions requiring impeccable technique
• Line responsibility for the performance of clinical analysis in the Department of Laboratories.
• Perform routine instrument maintenance and troubleshooting as assigned according to established protocols to ensure proper instrument performance.
• Adhere to all quality control policies and procedures.
• Proficient in computer protocols as assigned.
• Adhere to all SBUH and departmental policies and protocols
• Interact professionally with nursing staff, physicians, support staff, peers, patients, and other members of the hospital community
• Will maintain safe laboratory practices under the direction of Associate Technical Director of the Molecular Genetics Laboratory and the Laboratory Director.
• Perform other clerical duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

Individual to meet federal requirements to perform high complexity testing

Preferred Qualifications:

• NYSED License as Clinical Laboratory Technologist
• Evening shift experience
• Experience with Sunquest Laboratory Information System
• Bachelor's degree in Laboratory Science
• ASCP Certification

Needs:

• 1 Evening Temp
• 2 Night Temp

Which Shifts:

• Nights: full time, five days per week, from 11:00 pm to 07:30 am, with weekends and holidays rotation.
• Evenings: full time, five days per week, from 03:00 pm to 11:00pm, with weekends and holidays rotation.

Duration:

3 -6 months.
