Heavy Equipment Operator

Large Machine OperatorAt TelCom Construction, LLC, the Large Machine Operator supports the HDD drill crew by safely and efficiently operating heavy equipment used in large-diameter drilling operations. This role is responsible for running support machinery such as excavators, skid steers, loaders, vacuum systems, and job-site equipment required for staging, trenching, material handling, and bore support. The Machine Operator works closely with the Foreman, Drill Operator, Locator, and Reclaimer Technician to ensure smooth workflow, safe site conditions, and proper equipment usage.Connecting you to great benefitsWeekly PaychecksPaid Time Off, Parental Leave, and HolidaysInsurance (including medical, prescription drug, dental, vision, disability, life insurance)401(k) w/ Company MatchStock Purchase PlanEducation ReimbursementLegal InsuranceDiscounts on gym memberships, pet insurance, and much more!What you'll doOperate heavy machinery including excavators, skid steers, loaders, trenchers, and vac systemsSupport drill setup by staging pipe, tooling, mud tanks, and materialsAssist with bore support including trenching, potholing, exposing utilities, and site preparationPerform safe material handling including loading/unloading pipe, tooling, and equipmentMaintain equipment through daily inspections, greasing, fluid checks, and reporting issuesCoordinate with drill crew to ensure proper timing and workflow during drilling operationsAssist with environmental controls including containment, spoil management, and site cleanlinessFollow all safety protocols including PPE, equipment lockout/tagout, and hazard awarenessSupport reclaim operations by moving materials, staging tanks, and assisting the mud system technician when neededPerform general labor duties when equipment operation is not requiredAttend new site Job Safety AnalysisSafely operate and control assigned equipmentDig pits, trenches or potholes as directed by job planResponsible for the site set-up and clean-upLoad and unload tools, materials and equipment from truckSet up a safety perimeterPerform work in all weather conditionsOther duties as assignedWhat you'll needTo be 18 years of age or olderAuthorization to work in the United States for this companyHigh School Diploma, GED equivalent, or relevant work experienceValid State driver's license (cannot be Provisional), including an acceptable driving recordExperience with drill set up and design processes, is preferredExperience operating heavy machinery (excavators, skid steers, loaders, trenchers).Ability to work safely around HDD rigs, mud systems, and moving equipment.Strong communication skills and ability to follow direction from the Foreman.Basic mechanical aptitude for equipment checks and minor troubleshooting.CDL REQUIRED — Class A or Class B depending on equipment transport needs.Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.Ability to lift 50–75 lbs as needed.
