Job Description & Requirements Specialty: Stepdown Discipline: RN Start Date: ASAP Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, days, nights, rotating Employment Type: Travel Travel RN – Cardiovascular Stepdown (CVSD) | 13-Week Contract Specialty: Registered Nurse – Cardiovascular Stepdown (CVSD) Shift: Nights or Rotating (6:45 AM/PM – 7:15 PM/AM) Contract Length: 13 Weeks Requirements Active RN License BLS & ACLS required Experience with epicardial pacing and chest tubes Must be comfortable titrating cardiac drips Unit Highlights 22-bed Cardiovascular Stepdown Unit Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4–6 Self-scheduling available through a scheduling committee Block scheduling may be considered based on unit needs Patient Population Bradycardia Atrial Fibrillation (A-fib) Supraventricular Tachycardia (SVT) Congestive Heart Failure (CHF) Coronary Artery Disease (CAD) NSTEMI Peripheral Vascular Disease (PVD) Pulmonary Embolism (PE) CVA/TIA Post-op CABG (Day 1) TAVR Post-op VATS, Lobectomy, Wedge Resection Chest Tube and Tracheotomy patients Clinical Skills Titrate: Cardizem Amiodarone Procainamide Dopamine Dobutamine Heparin Insulin (occasionally) Chest tube management Epicardial pacing Telemetry monitoring (monitor technicians interpret rhythms) No ventilator patients Unit Support Charge nurse with patient assignment Nursing supervisor available 24/7 RT available hospital-wide 24/7 IV Therapy Team performs all IV starts Nurse aides available (approximately 1:15 ratio) Schedule & Orientation Nights only or rotating days/nights Every other weekend Holiday rotation required No call required Travelers are first to float One 12-hour orientation shift with a preceptor Submission Requirements 50-mile local radius rule applies Unexpired driver's license must be included with submission Any licensing/background issues must be disclosed at the time of submission No artificial nails (dress code requirement) This opportunity is ideal for experienced CVSD or Cardiac Stepdown RNs with strong telemetry, chest tube, cardiac drip, and post-cardiac surgery experience who are looking for a high-acuity cardiovascular assignment.
