Associate Director - Commercialization About the Opportunity: The Center for Research Innovation (CRI) at Northeastern University seeks a self‑motivated individual with experience in technology transfer and a proven record of success in technology licensing and commercialization to join its team. The role reports to the Director of Commercialization and coordinates with CRI team members to maximize the impact and value derived from the university’s technology portfolio. Responsibilities Technology Evaluation and Management (30%) – manage a growing intellectual property portfolio, assess commercialization potential, identify and foster spin‑out opportunities, work with Legal to evaluate portfolio and recommend improvements. Strategic Outreach and Engagement (30%) – develop and maintain industry relationships, participate in conferences and events, capture industry business challenges to inform commercialization efforts. Deal Negotiation (30%) – structure and negotiate business terms for licenses with industry partners and Northeastern spin‑outs, liaise with researchers, NU‑Res and legal team. Strategic Program Development (10%) – develop, execute and manage commercialization strategies, influence marketing initiatives and programs, contribute to continuous improvement of CRI. Qualifications Graduate Degree in a technical life‑sciences field. 8+ years experience in academic technology transfer or equivalent business development or research alliance experience. Proven record in assessing, marketing, licensing, and deal structuring of early‑stage technologies. Expertise in negotiating, drafting and executing high‑value deals, and strong networking within life‑sciences industry. Strategic and tactical thinking with a high drive for execution. Excellent communication skills, able to explain complex scientific concepts to diverse audiences. Experience with MS Office/Teams, Salesforce and online database tools. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Only U.S. persons will be considered for this position. Position Type Research Compensation & Benefits Grade/Pay Type: 113S. Expected hiring range: $113,865.00 – $165,105.00. Compensation is reviewed regularly and may vary based on experience and other factors.
