Cardiologist Opportunity At Queen's Heart Institute

The Queen's Heart Institute (QHI), General Cardiology Network serves as the central hub of cardiovascular care specialists, and as a critical point of entry into The Queen's Healthcare Systems. The successful candidate will join a comprehensive team of interventional cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, imaging cardiologists, heart failure specialists, anesthesiologists, and advanced practice providers dedicated to delivering state-of-the-art cardiovascular care to patients throughout the Hawaiian Islands and the Pacific region.

The Queen's Medical Center is the largest hospital in Hawaii, serving as the primary tertiary and quaternary referral center for the state and the Pacific Basin. The cardiovascular service line supports over 500 acute care beds and manages a diverse spectrum of complex cardiovascular disease.

The Queen's University Medical Group is affiliated with the University of Hawaii John A. Burns School of Medicine and serves as the primary teaching site for medical students, internal medicine residents, and cardiovascular fellows. Faculty appointments are available commensurate with experience, with opportunities for teaching, program development, quality improvement, clinical research, and participation in national registries and multicenter trials.

Job Summary/Responsibilities:

• Provides excellent patient care and competently performs procedures in the Cardiac Service Line departments.
• Diagnoses and recommends treatment options to referring physicians.
• Assists in program development and oversight for the Cardiac Comprehensive Care Unit (CCCU).

Clinical:

• Provides high quality cardiology services to a variety of The Queen's Medical Center (QMC) patients as assigned including, but not limited to:
• Basic invasive procedures
• Percutaneous coronary interventions
• Outpatient services in a clinic based practice
• Inpatient consultative services
• Provides multidisciplinary inpatient care of patients in the CCCU together with Intensivists, Cardiac Surgeons and Cardiologists after creation of an interventional/CCCU service.
• Interprets results, completes final reports/documentation and communicates to the referring physician within 48 hours.
• Teaches and supervises medical students, residents and Cardiology fellows from the John A. Burns School of Medicine, University of Hawaii and assigned residents from other programs.
• Provides on-call services as directed by the Queen's Heart Physician Practice (QHPP) Medical Director including acute interventional call (no more than 3q intervals).
• Supports the Medical Director with assigned duties as requested.
• Establishes good rapport with patients, staff, and patients.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Graduate of an accredited School of Medicine or ECFMG certification.
• Board certification in Cardiovascular Disease and Interventional Cardiology.
• Fellowship training in Adult Cardiovascular Diseases.
• Current unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Hawaii.
• During the period of employment, shall be and remain a member of the QMC medical staff in good standing with appropriate privileges without restriction.
• Qualified for an appointment on the faculty of the University of Hawaii John A. Burns School of Medicine.
• Prior clinical experience in Interventional Cardiology preferred.
• Prior leadership experience in Cardiology preferred.
• Prior involvement in Cardiology training preferred.

Base salary begins at $677,928/year with opportunity for additional incentives.
