OVERVIEW:
The Domestic Violence Prevention Group Facilitator is responsible for planning, facilitating, and evaluating evidence-based domestic violence prevention and intervention programming for external domestic relations participants, in person at the Day Reporting Center. The facilitator will provide a cognitive-based, open-ended educational group, designed to increase awareness, promote healthy relationships, reduce risk factors associated with interpersonal violence, and support participant behavior change.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Facilitate domestic violence prevention, intervention, and educational groups to clients in accordance with program curriculum, consisting of 4 hours day, twice a week for approximately 8 weeks of group facilitation.
- Create a safe, respectful, and trauma-informed learning environment for all participants.
- Utilize evidence-based and best-practice approaches in the delivery of services.
- Adapt facilitation techniques to meet the needs of diverse audiences and learning styles.
- Assist participants in understanding the dynamics of domestic violence, healthy relationships, boundaries, communication, and conflict resolution.
- Utilize motivational interviewing, de-escalation, and engagement strategies to encourage participation and positive behavior change.
- Maintain professional boundaries while fostering supportive and productive interactions.
- Complete accurate and timely documentation of services, attendance, assessments, referrals, and participant progress.
- Maintain participant records in accordance with agency requirements.
- Collect and report program outcome data and performance measures.
- Prepare reports as required by supervisors, and/ or funding sources.
- Recognize signs of crisis, escalating behavior, or safety concerns and respond appropriately according to agency policy.
- Maintain awareness of mandatory reporting requirements and legal responsibilities.
- Collaborate with supervisors and clinical staff regarding high-risk situations.
- Maintain knowledge of current domestic violence prevention practices, trauma-informed care principles, and community resources.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Criminal Justice, Counseling, Human Services, Education, Public Health, or a related field required.
- Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum of two years of experience facilitating groups, providing prevention services, case management, counseling support, or working with survivors of domestic violence or related populations.
- Knowledge of domestic violence dynamics, power and control issues, trauma-informed care, and victim advocacy principles.
- Strong group facilitation and public speaking skills.
- Ability to manage sensitive discussions while maintaining professionalism and participant safety.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and documentation skills.
- Ability to establish rapport with participants while maintaining professional boundaries.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and electronic record systems.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
- Frequently required to sit, reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
