Respiratory Therapist

The position involves managing patients primarily in inpatient, outpatient, and emergency department settings. The department performs a high volume of treatments daily, ranging from 50 to 75+ depending on patient census. During the day shift, there are typically two therapists for inpatient care and one for outpatient care. At night, one therapist is assigned to inpatient care, with potential for a reduced load during lower census periods. The role includes responsibilities such as ventilatory management, arterial blood gas draws, CPAP/BiPAP administration, and nebulizer treatments. Outpatient duties comprise setting up nocturnal pulse oximetry and blood gas assessments. The therapist is required to assist with intubation but not to perform it independently at this time. There is no supervisor or lead therapist on duty, with management available on call 24/7 for support. Shifts are scheduled with efforts made to accommodate staff requests, including every other weekend and holiday shifts as needed. Team collaboration is essential, and there may be opportunities to float to various areas within the department. The work environment utilizes specific respiratory equipment for therapy and monitoring purposes. Department-specific orientation will be provided.
