Associate Editor

Greenspring Media is looking for an Associate Editor to support both Minnesota Monthly and our custom publications division. This is a hands‑on editorial role for someone who enjoys writing, editing, reporting, and helping bring stories to life across print, digital, newsletters, and social media. One day you might be covering a new restaurant opening, editing a travel story, building website content, or helping proof a visitor guide headed to press. No two days look exactly alike. The Associate Editor will work with editors, designers, freelance contributors, photographers, and clients to create content that informs, entertains, and serves our readers. Responsibilities Write articles, blogs, newsletters, and social media content for Minnesota Monthly and custom publications. Research, report, fact‑check, and develop story ideas. Edit and proofread content for accuracy, clarity, grammar, and style. Assist with editorial calendars and content planning. Coordinate assignments with freelance writers, photographers, and contributors. Upload and manage website content. Help optimize digital content for search and audience engagement. Review page proofs and assist with production deadlines. Attend events, interviews, photoshoots, and community gatherings as needed. Assist with custom publication projects, including writing, editing, research, and client communication. Work closely with editorial, design, sales, and marketing teams to keep projects moving on schedule. Stay connected to what’s happening in Minnesota—from restaurants and travel to arts, culture, and local news. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, English, Marketing, or a related field. Preferred: 2-3 years of experience in journalism, publishing, digital media, content marketing, or a similar editorial role. Strong recent graduates with relevant internship experience will also be considered. Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills. Familiarity with AP Style. Ability to juggle multiple deadlines and projects. Experience writing for print, digital, newsletters, or social media. Basic knowledge of SEO and digital publishing. Familiarity with content management systems and social media platforms. Strong organizational and communication skills. Photography, video, newsletter, or audience‑engagement experience is a plus.
