Behavior Intervention Specialist (BIS)

Under the supervision of an assigned administrator and direction of a credentialed staff member , assist in developing, implementing and modeling behavior and instructional support plans to meet individual student needs and reinforce learning activities; perform a variety of specialized learning techniques, communication strategies, and applied behavioral activities or techniques pertaining to the instruction of students with emotional disabilities, behavior disorders and/or mental health challenges; assist in modeling the use of positive behavior support and intervention techniques for other staff; assist in data collection related to academic and/or behavioral information. The incumbents in this classification assist in providing students with instructional and behavioral support which directly supports student learning. Requirements / Qualifications You're an excellent candidate for our BIS position, if you have a passion for working with children, are energized by working in a fast-paced work environment, enjoy working in a team, and you possess the following qualifications and competencies: Any combination of: 48 college semester units; in child development, education, psychology, sociology, human development and counseling or related field. One year work experience working with children with emotional disabilities, behavior disorders and/or mental health challenges. Located in east San Diego County. The district is 66.3 square miles in size, and serves elementary students in grades K-8 feeding into the Grossmont Union High School District. The district has approximately 16,600 students, plus approximately 800 preschool students, with 26 schools (6 middle schools, 19 elementary schools and 1 preschool).
