3rd Shift Maintenance Technician

Position Overview The Maintenance Technician will engage in performing various maintenance activities at OPW/Knappco. The role involves responding to maintenance requests submitted through an automated system and completing projects as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor. Essential Functions Perform preventive maintenance on machines and equipment at the proper intervals. Analyze mechanical and operational problems on assigned equipment and plan for corrective action. Make necessary corrections and running adjustments to maintain maximum production and quality. Review production schedules; when equipment is not scheduled for manufacturing, changeover equipment to new sizes or perform scheduled maintenance. Test equipment to check operation. Clear jams and set aside product for inspection and rework. Test equipment after repairs, changeovers or extended downtime. Examine, test, and measure product from assigned equipment for quality specifications, using gauges and instruments, and record data on appropriate forms. Check product for visual defects. Make preventive maintenance checks and inspections of assigned equipment, report findings to supervisor, and take appropriate action. Examine defects and analyze spoilage causes; where possible, take corrective action. Analyze and record causes of production delays on the daily production report. Additional Duties Repair and adjust small machines (e.g., drill presses, punch presses, grinding and buffing heads, riveters, bench power and hand tools) involving replacement of bearings, spindles, electrical switches, etc. Work from drawings, sketches, specifications, and instruction manuals. Use scale, square, levels, miscellaneous power bench tools, wrenches, carpentry tools, etc.; oil and grease equipment in the absence of an oiler and greaser. Perform product examination and rework when the line is down due to causes beyond the mechanic's control. Required Education and/or Experience 3-5 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment. Must be knowledgeable in skilled trades. Required Qualifications Well‑rounded knowledge of the practices, tools, equipment, and materials used within the Civacon manufacturing environment. Basic reading, writing, and computation skills. Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced environment. Ability to work with minimal supervision. Collaborative team player with effective working relationships. Strong problem‑solving skills. Good interpersonal communication skills. Language Skills Ability to read, write, verbalize, and comprehend instructions and correspondence in English. Ability to effectively present information in one‑on‑one and group situations to team members, co‑workers, and outside vendors. Mathematical Skills Must have basic computation skills. Physical and Visual Activities Standing, walking, sitting, lifting, carrying, balancing, stooping, reaching, handling, feeling, talking, hearing, acuity‑far, acuity‑near, depth perception, field of vision. Environment/Atmospheric Conditions You will spend time in an office environment as well as on the shop floor. You may be exposed to loud operating machinery, hot and cold temperatures, chemicals, and vapors.
