Property Accountant

Contract-to-Hire

Pay Rate: $33.65–$38.46/hour

Location: Dallas, TX 75251

Position Summary

The Property Accountant is responsible for performing accounting and financial reporting functions for management while ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and timely completion of all reconciliations and reporting requirements. This role supports ownership groups, third-party clients, vendors, and tenants through professional communication via phone, email, and in person.

Essential Responsibilities

• Prepare, review, and distribute monthly financial packages, including revenue, expense, and variance reports, to ownership and third-party management by the 15th of each month.
• Review, prepare, and post journal entries, including month-end accruals and consolidation entries as needed.
• Reconcile multiple bank accounts and ensure accuracy of financial records.
• Process accounts payable check runs by matching invoices to checks, scanning and saving batches, and preparing outgoing mail.
• Retrieve and process daily check deposits, verify proper logging procedures, endorse checks appropriately, and complete electronic deposits.
• Manage lease administration activities, including lease abstraction, lease processing from execution through close-out, and security deposit tracking.
• Respond to inquiries from clients, vendors, and tenants while researching and resolving more complex issues.
• Perform financial analysis and revenue forecasting while maintaining strict confidentiality of financial information.
• Assist with additional accounting and administrative duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience

• Minimum of two (2) years of accounting experience and/or training required.
• Commercial real estate accounting experience preferred.
• Experience with commercial real estate accounting software, preferably Yardi Voyager, strongly preferred.

Technical Skills

• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Familiarity with Adobe software and accounting systems required.
• Strong working knowledge of Yardi Voyager preferred.
