Position Overview:

Seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for a PACU (Post Anesthesia Care Unit) assignment in Bronx, NY. The ideal candidate will have strong critical care experience and be comfortable managing high-acuity post-operative patients, including ICU-level boarders awaiting inpatient beds. Candidates must possess pediatric recovery experience and demonstrate expertise in airway management, rapid patient assessment, and post-anesthesia care.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide comprehensive post-anesthesia nursing care to surgical and procedural patients.
• Monitor and assess patients recovering from anesthesia, ensuring safe and timely recovery.
• Manage high-acuity ICU-level patients boarding in the PACU.
• Perform frequent assessments of airway, breathing, circulation, neurological status, and pain management.
• Recognize and respond promptly to patient deterioration and post-operative complications.
• Collaborate closely with anesthesia providers, surgeons, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Monitor and manage invasive lines, ventilators, vasoactive medications, and hemodynamic status as required.
• Care for pediatric patients recovering from surgical and procedural interventions.
• Conduct detailed neurological assessments for Neuro IR and neurovascular patients.
• Monitor post-operative kidney transplant patients, including urine output, fluid balance, laboratory values, and signs of graft dysfunction.
• Provide safe care for bariatric and high-risk airway patients, recognizing complications such as airway obstruction, hypoventilation, and respiratory compromise.
• Document all patient care accurately using EPIC.

Skills:

• Prior PACU experience is mandatory.
• Strong ICU background preferred, including experience in SICU, Neuro ICU, Transplant ICU, or other high-acuity critical care settings.
• Experience managing ventilators, invasive monitoring, and vasoactive drips preferred.
• Pediatric PACU or pediatric recovery experience required.
• Experience recovering Neuro IR patients preferred.
• Experience caring for kidney transplant patients preferred.
• Strong clinical judgment, communication, and prioritization skills.
• Experience with EPIC charting system preferred.

Requirements:

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Minimum 2 years of recent PACU experience required.
• AHA - BLS
