Youth Pickleball Coach

Part-Time | $29–$39 per Hour | Consistent Weekly Schedule

Looking for a rewarding way to stay active, spend time outdoors, and make a meaningful impact in your community?

TGA of North San Diego is hiring dependable, energetic coaches to lead after-school pickleball and golf programs for elementary-aged children. This is an especially great opportunity for former athletes, educators, PE teachers, experienced youth leaders, and enthusiastic golfers or pickleball players who enjoy working with kids.

No formal coaching experience is required. We provide training, equipment, curriculum, and ongoing support.

Why Coach With TGA?

• Earn $29–$39 per hour
• Each class runs for approximately one hour, but coaches are paid for two hours of their time to account for preparation, travel, setup, check-in, and cleanup
• Work a consistent schedule of 2 to 12 hours per week, typically with a maximum of two paid hours per day

The Role

Our coaches introduce children to golf and pickleball through energetic instruction, skill-building activities, and fun, interactive games. Coaches may choose to teach golf, pickleball, or both.

Successful TGA coaches:

• Create a fun, welcoming experience for children of all skill levels
• Provide individual attention so every student can experience success
• Teach sportsmanship, perseverance, teamwork, and other life skills
• Use positive reinforcement and age-appropriate instruction
• Follow TGA lesson plans while bringing energy and personality to each class
• Communicate reliably with families and the TGA team
• Arrive prepared, on time, and ready to lead

Schedule and Seasonal Commitment

Most classes take place on weekday afternoons at elementary schools in Encinitas, Solana Beach, and Del Mar.

Our current openings include:

• Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday
• Most classes run from approximately 2:15 to 4:15 p.m. as well as 12:15 to 2:15 p.m. (Wednesday & Friday only)
• Pickleball classes in Solana Beach, Encinitas, and Del Mar
• Golf classes currently only in Del Mar on Tuesday's and Thursday's
• Additional substitute and future coaching opportunities may be available

Our primary coaching sessions generally run:

• Fall: Mid-September through Early November
• Winter: December through February
• Spring: March through May

Exact start and end dates vary by school and program.

Coaches select the days that work for them and maintain that same weekly schedule throughout the session. Because consistency is important to our students and schools, applicants must be able to commit to every scheduled class for the full season, except in cases of illness or emergency.

We strongly prefer coaches who are interested in returning for multiple sessions and becoming a long-term part of the TGA team. Coaches who remain with us across multiple seasons may have opportunities to add classes, increase hourly pay, provide private lessons, and take on expanded responsibilities.

Qualifications

You may be a great fit if you:

• Have experience working with children through coaching, teaching, camps, childcare, or mentoring
• Have a background in athletics, education, physical education, golf, or pickleball
• Are energetic, encouraging, patient, and comfortable leading a group
• Are dependable and take your commitments seriously
• Are receptive to training, feedback, and continued development
• Have reliable transportation to schools throughout coastal North San Diego County
• Can safely transport provided coaching equipment
• Can complete all required background checks and school-clearance requirements

College and high school students are welcome to apply, provided they can maintain a consistent weekly schedule, commit to the entire season, and give advance notice of any anticipated schedule changes.
