New Glenn Launch Operations Technicians (Fixed Term) (Multiple Levels | Multiple Shifts)
BLUE ORIGIN
Application close date: Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis until the requisition is closed. At Blue Origin, we envision millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. We’re working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. Join our team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight! This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities. Blue Origin seeks highly talented technicians to launch the New Glenn rocket at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station. We are looking for teammates to help refurbish flown rockets, stack rockets and payloads, maintain and operate launch infrastructure, and ultimately participate in launching one of the largest rockets in the world. Successful candidates will bring relevant skills, experiences and certifications from aerospace, oil and gas, automotive, and related fields. We are looking for people who are fast and eager learners, extremely hard workers, problem solvers, and instinctive team players. This is a pooling requisition for current and anticipated openings across multiple Launch Ops teams, shifts, and levels. Candidates will be matched to the right roles as needs are identified. These are Fixed Term positions. Position Specific Details: Shifts: B | Mon-Fri (6pm-4am), C | Fri-Sun (6am-6pm), D | Fri-Sun (6pm-6am) Location: Space Coast, FL Relocation: Available Potential travel: Up to 10% for training and related activities (where applicable) Key Responsibilities: Refurbish rocket boosters, including removing and installing engines, avionics, hydraulics, actuators, valves, body panels and other aerospace components. Assembling rockets by stacking boosters, upper stages, and payloads. Operating sophisticated tooling Moving fixtures and tooling into position while protecting launch vehicles. Moving rockets to the launch pad, and integrating them with launch systems. Fabricate tooling, harnesses, and other equipment as needed. Proposing and implementing continuous improvements to all our operations. Team Focus & Domain Expertise Launch Operations sits at the heart of Blue Origin’s launch and spaceflight systems, turning design intent into hard data, clean checkouts, and flight confidence. Our Launch Technicians are the hands‑on experts who bring vehicles, ground systems, and test stands to life – from first power‑on and subsystem checkout to full‑stack vehicle and pad‑level tests that clear the way for launch day. You won’t just follow procedures; you’ll execute them with precision and help make them better. You’ll build up and configure hardware, connect and verify avionics and electrical systems, hook up fluid lines and ground support equipment, and run test and checkout sequences that prove systems are ready to fly. Experience with tools and disciplines such as mechanical assembly, electrical wiring and terminations, fluid systems (cryogenic, pneumatic, hydraulic), instrumentation, and basic test equipment (DMMs, scopes, pressure/flow measurement, etc.) will let you quickly contribute on the floor and at the pad. Safety and mission assurance are our north star, and the stakes are real. You’ll follow and reinforce rigorous safety‑by‑design and test practices – including PPE, lockout/tagout, hazardous energy and fluid procedures – while working on systems that must work the first time, every time. Launch Technicians who thrive here combine strong hands‑on skills with disciplined, procedure‑driven execution and the pride that comes with seeing the hardware they built and checked out roll to the pad, count down, and fly to space. Launch & Mission Operations Technicians provide hands‑on, frontline support at the sharp end of the mission – where hardware, people, and procedures come together to put vehicles and payloads into space. Depending on your background, you may focus on operations such as: Launch Vehicle & Ground Operations – Performing vehicle integration, pad or test stand operations, routing and connecting cables and hoses, operating ground fluid systems (cryogenic, pneumatic, hydraulic), supporting avionics/electrical checkout, and assisting with countdown and test events. You help turn a static vehicle on the stand into a launch‑ready system, one connection and one checkout at a time. Payload & Processing Operations – Handling payloads or spacecraft, assisting with integration and encapsulation, operating lifts and ground equipment, and maintaining controlled or cleanroom environments. Your workmanship ensures every payload is treated with the care and precision worthy of its science, mission, or customer. Transportation & Handling – Rigging, moving, lifting, and securing large, or critical flight hardware using specialized transport and material handling equipment. You execute the choreography that moves high‑value hardware safely from factory floor to launch pad. Mission & Test Support – Supporting control room or test operations from the floor, including pre‑test configurations, pad or stand walkdowns, propellant and fluid system readiness, and real‑time support to console operators during countdowns and test runs. You’re on headset with engineers and supervisors, turning their commands into safe, correct actions in the field. You’ll be expected to bring solid hands‑on mechanical, electrical, or fluid‑system experience; comfort working around large, complex hardware; and the discipline to execute detailed procedures in a high‑consequence environment. In this role, you’ll be trusted with critical hardware, work shoulder‑to‑shoulder with engineers and supervisors, and play a direct part in the risk and readiness picture for each test and launch. If you’re motivated by tight timelines, real hardware, and the adrenaline of seeing the systems you built and operated counted down and launched, this is where you’ll feel at home. Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma, GED or equivalent Relevant mechanical and/or electrical experience working on aerospace, automotive, or oil and gas equipment, or equivalent: (0‑3 years Level I Technician, 3+ years Level II Technician, 5+ years Level III Technician, 8+ years Level IV Technician) Demonstrated ability to use standard hand tools and electrical tools in a professional setting. Proficient in using computers to interact with software platforms, including work documentation applications (e.g., SAP, Maximo) and machinery Human Machine Interfaces (HMI’s); able to provide examples of past documentation and HMI usage. Proven reliability, as evidenced by supervisor or peer feedback, including willingness and ability to work scheduled overtime as required by operational needs. Documented ability to follow complex work instructions, accurately complete work documentation, and maintain a clean and organized work area. Able to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted, work at heights up to 20 feet, and safely climb ladders and stairs. Demonstrated proficiency in both verbal and written communication, including team collaboration, as evidenced by prior performance reviews or interview assessment. Able to accurately interpret engineering models, mechanical drawings, technical specifications, written instructions, and test procedures. Demonstrated history of earning trust, maintaining positive relationships, and fostering inclusive workplace culture. Must be able to obtain U.S. Space Force Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) access credentials (background check required). Preferred Qualifications: A&P license, Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in relevant technical field Certification in and/or Knowledge of IPC standards for assembly and inspection.
