CommonSpirit may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range as permitted by law.Job Summary and ResponsibilitiesAs our Nuclear Med Tech on our team you will provide diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear medicine procedures through the administration of radiopharmaceuticals and the safe operation of various types of imaging counting and computer equipment. Nuclear Med Tech maintains accurate records of radioactive materials from receipt through administration and disposal. Acts as a clinical resource to unit personnel and assures current standards of practice for the unit.Every day, you will center on patient care, radiopharmaceutical handling, and operating advanced imaging gear like PET/CT or SPECT/CT scanners. You calibrate equipment, draw and administer radioactive doses, position patients, and process the resulting scans for radiologists to review.To be successful in this role, you need a strong blend of meticulous safety habits, radiation physics knowledge, and patient-focused empathy.Proper assessment of the patient and their abilities to participate in ordered procedures. Provides a clear explanation of the procedure including; duration, process, and what to expect following completionSelection of the proper equipment, setting correct technical factors, procedure protocols and gathers proper supplies prior to performance of the procedureObtains clear and complete history from the patient and or patient record and records that data into patient record to assist in image interpretation and future patient encountersIs able to perform quality assessment of images obtained and is able to evaluate equipment issues and reports assessment to supervisor, manager or directorEnsures all equipment is in working order at the beginning of the day and prior to starting of a procedureIs responsible to participate in and have a good understanding of all department, campus and system quality improvement projects, the ACR accreditation process, Radiation Safety, ALARA, MQSA, and State Regulations as they apply to staffs license or certifications.Up to 20,000 sign-on bonus and $10,000 educational assistance available to external candidates!Job RequirementsEducationAccredited Graduate of a Nuclear Medicine ProgramLicense and CertificationBLS from the American Heart AssociationWhere You'll WorkCHI Health St. Francis was established in Grand Island, Neb. in 1887.
