Leading Freight Forwarder / NVOCC/ Customs House Broker/ Tank Container Operator, with locations in 24 countries and over 3000 employees strong, is seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to fill the position of Import Operations Manager in our Jersey City, NJ Office.

The ideal candidate is a strong leader with freight forwarding and customs processing experience who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is committed to operational excellence and customer satisfaction 

What You’ll Do:  

• Oversee daily U.S. import operations across Ocean, Air, and Ground, ensuring timely and accurate shipment processing. 
• Manage U.S. Customs Brokerage activities and ensure compliance with CBP, FDA, USDA, EPA, DOT, C-TPAT, ISF, ACE, and other applicable regulations. 
• Lead, coach, and develop import operations and brokerage teams, including workload planning, performance management, and training. 
• Coordinate with overseas offices, agents, carriers, vendors, and customers to ensure smooth cargo movement and high service levels. 
• Resolve escalated operational issues, delays, exceptions, and claims while maintaining strong customer relationships. 
• Monitor KPIs, SLAs, and operational performance, identify opportunities for process improvements, and increased efficiency. 
• Ensure accurate documentation, billing coordination, recordkeeping, and audit readiness. 
• Support customer meetings, new business opportunities, system enhancements, and continuous improvement initiatives. 
• Responsible for managing the daily operations of the Import Department to ensure excellent customer service, compliance, and profitability. 
• Manages employees in the Import Department. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units.
• Ensure compliance with company quality standards, including ISO 9001/14001, C-TPAT, and Responsible Care requirements 

Requirements:

  What We're Looking For:  

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. 
• 5+ years of experience in freight forwarding, import, customs brokerage, or international logistics. 
• 5+ years of Supervisory experience 
• Strong leadership and people management skills
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities
• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Excellent organization and time management
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
• Strong attention to detail and quality focus
• Team-oriented and collaborative
• Commitment to compliance and continuous improvement
• Strong business acumen and cost awareness
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Outlook.
