Are you a motivated sales professional with an entrepreneurial mindset who wants more than just another job? Farmers Insurance, Silicon Valley District Office, is seeking an ambitious individual to participate in a 6-7 month Protégé Program designed to provide structured training, hands-on sales experience, and the business-development skills needed to pursue agency ownership.
This is an opportunity to learn from experienced insurance professionals, develop your sales and business skills, and work toward the long-term goal of owning and operating your own Farmers Insurance agency.
No insurance experience required! If you are people-focused, coachable, and driven to succeed, we will provide all the training and support you need to thrive in this role.
What You'll Do

• Participate in a structured 6-7 month Protégé development program.
• Work alongside experienced Farmers agency owners and learn the fundamentals of running an insurance business.
• Use provided quality leads and other prospecting methods to connect with potential customers.
• Develop insurance sales skills, including prospecting, quoting, presenting coverage options, and closing new business.
• Sell and cross-sell insurance products while working toward monthly sales goals.
• Build and maintain strong customer relationships.
• Conduct outbound calls, follow up with prospects, and develop new business opportunities.
• Learn how to market an agency and develop a sustainable book of business.
• Gain exposure to agency operations, customer retention, and business development.
• Participate in Farmers training and licensing programs as required.
• Work closely with the District Manager and experienced agency owners to develop your sales and business-management skills.

What We're Looking For

• We are looking for a motivated, coachable, and goal-oriented sales professional who is serious about building a career in insurance and has an interest in business ownership.
• The ideal candidate will have:
• Sales, business development, customer service, or related experience.
• A strong entrepreneurial mindset and desire to build something of your own.
• Excellent communication, relationship-building, and persuasion skills.
• A proven ability to work toward and achieve sales goals.
• Strong follow-up, prospecting, and closing skills.
• The ability to make outbound calls and build business through consistent activity.
• Resilience, persistence, and a willingness to learn.
• The ability to work independently while responding well to coaching and mentorship.
• A genuine interest in eventually owning and operating an insurance agency.
• Willingness to obtain the required Property & Casualty and Life, Accident & Health insurance licenses.

Insurance experience and Property and Casualty licensing are a plus, but candidates with strong sales ability and a willingness to obtain the required licenses may also be considered.

The Path to Agency Ownership
The Protégé Program is designed to help qualified individuals develop the sales experience, business knowledge, and professional skills needed to pursue Farmers agency ownership.
Upon successful completion of the program and meeting applicable program requirements, participants may have the opportunity to:

• Start a new Farmers Insurance agency, or
• Explore acquiring an existing agency, subject to applicable qualifications, approval, and program terms.

If agency ownership is not your immediate path, you may also have the opportunity to continue building your insurance career with an existing Farmers agency.
