Position Details Position Title: Accounting Officer (Specialist) Job Code: JC-519264 Salary: $5,266.00 - $6,591.00 A Location: Sacramento County Work Mode: Hybrid Telework Job Type: Permanent, Full Time Number of Positions: Multiple Job Responsibilities Under general supervision of the Administrator I (supervisor), the incumbent performs professional accounting work in the research, analysing, monitoring, establishing and maintaining General Fund accounts and financial records. The incumbent maintains working relationships with Franchise Tax Board (FTB) personnel, vendors, contractors, and state control agencies to facilitate the accounts payable process needed by internal management and other departments. Separation of duties: Responsibilities covered by State Administrative Manual (SAM) Section 7280. Employees in conflict of interest (family members in Accounting Section) may be ineligible. Qualifications Ability to apply general and state fund accounting principles and procedures Ability to analyze information, utilize good judgment and take effective action Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to work independently and in a team environment while demonstrating initiative, integrity, ownership and accountability Ability to prepare accurate and timely payment vouchers Ability to shift priorities and workloads to meet operational needs Proficient in Outlook, Microsoft Word and Excel Knowledge of the Financial Information System for California (FI$Cal) Knowledge of the Procurement process and the ability to analyze complex contracts Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to get along with others in a team environment Excellent organizational skills Exercise a positive attitude, self-motivation with a strong work ethics Ability to speak confidently with all levels of staff Excellent time management Ability to work on multiple tasks and meet deadlines Education in Accounting field Experience in invoice processing, payment vouchers, and review of purchase orders (POs) and contracts Analytical experience including reconciliation, discrepancy resolution, financial analysis or preparation of journal entries Experience working directly with vendors or internal stakeholders EEO Statement This position is an equal opportunity employer.
