Surgical Nurse – Operative Care

Schedule: Days, M-TH, 36 hours/week, 9 hours/day

Assignment Details:

• Guaranteed Hours: 36
• Contract Weeks: 13

Requirements:

• Active RN license required upon hire.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification upon hire.
• Advanced Life Support (ACLS) certification within one year of hire.
• Graduate from an accredited school of nursing with an Associate's, Diploma, or BSN degree required.
• Multiple years of surgical experience preferred.
• Ability to use a high level of abstract reasoning to assess patients and evaluate interventions.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Provides direct patient care to various populations, addressing psychosocial and physical aspects of care related to the surgical environment.
• Prepares patients for surgery by cooperating with anesthesia providers and conducting assessments.
• Observes behavioral and physiological changes, taking appropriate action and documenting findings.
• Ensures operating room readiness, maintaining surgical equipment and managing supplies for individual cases.
• Demonstrates knowledge of anesthetic drugs, surgical instruments, and techniques for safe medication administration.
• Acts as a patient advocate throughout the perioperative phases of care, coordinating and supervising patient care and providing education as necessary.
