Summary:

Responsible for contacting "bad debt" customers to collect payments and settle accounts. Works with third party debt collectors to aid in settling member debts..

Education and/or Experience

• Associate's degree required or four years of directly related experience
• Minimum four years of consumer financial services experience required
• Minimum of two years collection/recovery/bankruptcy experience required
• Basic understanding of regulations and policies regarding debt collection and collection law required
• Basic understanding of Fair Debt Collection Practice Act and Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) experience required
• Akcelerant preferred
• DNA preferred
• Microsoft Applications, including Excel and Word required
• Basic understanding Outbound Collection Calling | Loan Collections | Banking Software | Credit and Collections Software preferred
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to successfully manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines

Job Responsibilities:

• Responsible for outreach to members and debt collectors to settle debts and collect payments
• Engages in skip-tracing activities and research to locate members
• Initiates account settlements pre-approved by campaigns
• Recommends loan settlements within established guidelines
• Prepares and submits loan documentation for collection
• Analyzes data to achieve delinquency and charge-off goals
• Adheres to all company procedures, state and federal regulations
• Stays current on all collection industry with a strong focus on collection regulation changes, bankruptcy regulations at Federal and State levels, changes in recovery legislation, etc.
• Adheres to all Credit Union policies, procedures, and regulatory agency requirements.
• Perform other duties as needed upon request from immediate supervisor.

The good faith range for this position is $25.25 - $30.50 an hour. This range is an estimate, based on potential employee qualifications and operational needs. The salary may vary above and below the stated amounts, as permitted by applicable law.
