Job Description & Requirements Specialty: Med Surg / Telemetry Discipline: RN Start Date: ASAP Duration: 12 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours Employment Type: Travel JOB DESCRIPTION RN - MedSurg/Tele Schedule & Assignment Details Shift: 12-hour Night Shift (36 hours/week) Shift Hours: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM Clinical Interview: Yes – Final interview conducted by the hiring manager On-Call/Call Back: Possible low census call. Travelers may be called back up to 3:00 AM for night shifts and up to 3:00 PM for day shifts. Weekend Rotation: Every other weekend (EOW) Holiday Requirement: Travelers are expected to work 75% of holidays. Floating Requirement: Must be willing to float within Region 3, including Cleveland, Kings Mountain, Lincoln, and Central Division facilities (CMC Main, Mercy, LCH). About Facility: Shelby NC 28150 o 241 licensed beds o Level 3 Trauma o Teaching Hospital? No o Certified Chest Pain Center o Stroke Center o Radius rule: Traveler s permanent address must be 50 miles outside of home unit Unit Information: o Beds: 32 Census? Average patients/day? 32 o Minimum Years of Experience required? 18 months Med/Tele RN experience o Will you accept a first-time traveler? Yes Patient Types/Common Diagnoses: o Stroke, Respiratory Illnesses: Flu/Pneumonia/COVID, Renal Failure, Peritoneal Dialysis, Wounds, etc. Patient Ratios: o RN: 1:5-6; surge staffing could have ratios of 1:7-8 o LPN (if applicable): 1:5-6; surge staffing could have ratios of 1:7-8 o CNA: 1:10 Required Licensure & Certifications: o RN: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Skills required: o Basic Med/Tele skillset: Cardiac rhythm interpretation, experience with non-titrating Cardiac drips (Cardizem/Amiodarone), wound care, drain/tube management, PIV starts, Central line management, etc. Support within the Department: o CNA - ADLs, mobility, feeding o No HUC o Charge nurse – may or may not have patient assignment o Phlebotomy? Yes o IV/VAT Team? Yes o RT, 24/7 o Hospitalist, 24/7 o Intensivist, 24/7 o Telemetry monitoring/tech? Yes Technology/Equipment: o EMR: Epic o IV Pump: Yes o Med dispensing: Yes o Monitors: Yes o Unit specific equipment: VNO (virtual nursing - 10 cameras) Virtual RNs can act as 2nd RN Witness for certain meds, can closely monitor patients requiring special monitoring, can assist with Admission/Discharge items, etc. Floating: o Within region and scope of practice o Will be required to float per region needs – will require floating to all facilities listed below, as needed, within scope of practice – DECLINE if not agreeable Region 3 - Cleveland, Kings Mtn, Lincoln, Central Division (CMC Main Mercy LCH) If floating mid-shift, Traveler will be paid for the time traveling between facilities (will remain on the clock) Orientation (facility and unit): o NEO o 2 days departmental Yes Scheduling: o Weekend rotation: every other o Call: Possibility of low census call.
