About the Role

As the Corporate Accountant, you will join the corporate accounting department and report to the Assistant Controller, working closely with the Controller and the broader accounting team. This position is a newly created role intended to support the continued growth of the corporate accounting department. You will be responsible for financial accounting activities across multiple affiliated companies, including financial close procedures, banking and treasury activities, account reconciliations, job profitability calculations, general ledger entries, financial statement preparation, and additional accounting projects. The position supports a high-volume, fast-paced environment in which responsibilities and priorities may change depending on the needs of the affiliated companies. The successful candidate must be adaptable, detail-oriented, organized, and capable of independently managing multiple competing deadlines.


What you will be doing:

• Manage financial accounting activities for assigned affiliated companies.
• Support accounting functions across approximately 5 - 7 affiliated entities, with workloads and assignments evolving as the team expands.
• Prepare and assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial closing activities.
• Perform bank reconciliations, general ledger reconciliations, and other account reconciliations.
• Support treasury and banking functions, including daily cash and investment reporting, account balancing, funding accounts, and monitoring incoming payments.
• Assist with positive pay exception decisions, wire transfers, and monthly banking reconciliations.
• Communicate cash receipts to appropriate stakeholders and apply payments.
• Record and reconcile monthly investment transactions.
• Review and process invoices and approve overhead expense coding for assigned entities.
• Prepare recurring journal entries, accrual entries, and cost transfers.
• Perform quarterly job profit calculations and assist with job-cost accounting.
• Prepare financial statements and support financial reporting requirements.
• Assist the Controller and Assistant Controller with annual financial audits and project-based contract compliance audits.
• Coordinate with internal departments and affiliate company stakeholders to resolve accounting questions and requests.
• Manage multiple assignments and deadlines while maintaining accuracy and compliance with accounting procedures.
• Support departmental projects, ad-hoc assignments, and financial data requests as needed.
• Serve as a primary accounting resource and point of contact for assigned affiliate companies.
• Collaborate with other corporate accountants and provide coverage for team members as needed

About You

You are an accounting professional with a strong foundation in GAAP, treasury management, cash reconciliations, and financial close procedures in a for-profit business environment. You can work independently, manage several affiliated entities, communicate effectively with stakeholders, and maintain accuracy under changing priorities and tight deadlines.


Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field required; high school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of 2-3 years of relevant accounting experience, including experience in a for-profit corporate environment.
• Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Strong experience with treasury management, cash reconciliations, and accounting in a for-profit business environment is required.
• Demonstrated experience in high-volume accounting environments, ideally within a large or complex organization.
• Experience performing general ledger accounting, journal entries, accruals, and financial close procedures.
• Experience managing multiple accounting responsibilities while meeting strict reporting deadlines.
• Experience with multi-entity accounting and intercompany transactions is strongly preferred.
• Construction industry accounting experience preferred.
• Manufacturing or similarly complex, high-volume industry accounting experience is also desirable.
• Familiarity with job costing, project accounting, and financial reporting preferred.
• Experience with JD Edwards, Oracle, or similar enterprise-level ERP platforms preferred.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, particularly Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and financial data analysis.
• Experience using US Bank Single Point or Clearwater Investment Management software is a plus.
• Experience working collaboratively within an established corporate accounting team.
• Demonstrated ability to independently manage accounting responsibilities with minimal supervision.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize competing assignments.
• Ability to adjust quickly to changing business needs, deadlines, and responsibilities.
• Excellent communication skills and a professional, service-oriented approach.
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and problem-solving skills.
• Must be a self-starter, adaptable, flexible, and comfortable working in a fast-paced professional environment.
• Must be able to maintain a cooperative attitude during high-pressure situations.
• Prior construction, manufacturing, or comparable high-volume industry experience preferred.
• Experience demonstrating increasing responsibility, career progression, or ownership of more complex accounting functions is desirable.
