Registered Nurse - Stony Brook Anaesthesiology, UFPC Location: Lake Grove, NY Schedule: Full Time (Monday – Friday; 7:30 AM – 5:30 PM) Pay Range: $42.64 – $53.25 per hour Summary The Registered Nurse provides high‑quality individualized direct patient care utilizing the skills and knowledge of the profession, and supervises auxiliary personnel assisting in patient care delivery. Job Duties & Essential Functions Accurately collects clinical data on patients and demonstrates competency in performing clinical interventions, reporting abnormalities to the medical provider. Triage patient phone calls and troubleshoot medication management issues. Answer phone calls, assemble charts, register patients, schedule appointments, complete computer data entry, and retrieve reports. Safely perform all patient‑care responsibilities in accordance with professional standards and the organization’s policies and procedures. Develop and organize a plan of care in consultation with the treating physician, as indicated within the various subspecialties of the Department. Determine and set priorities to meet patient needs effectively. Provide proper and accurate documentation of patient care in the medical record. Coordinate services or accommodations (e.g., sign language interpreter) to ensure effective communication for patients who are hearing/visually impaired or have language barriers. Ensure patients receive timely and appropriate care within the delivery system and facilitate internal and external referrals. Administer medications, treatments, and contrast agents according to the physician’s orders, and document in the patient record. Maintain infection control precautions and identify potential infection control problems. Provide in‑service education to interdisciplinary team members within the Department. Participate in quality assurance activities within the Department. Participate in annual recertification, compliance, and HIPAA training, and all mandated in‑service programs. Conform to policies and regulations governing patient rights and confidentiality of information. Perform all other related duties as assigned by management. Required Education & Qualifications Associate’s degree in Nursing. Current RNs, or those enrolled/pending acceptance into a BSN program, must attain a Bachelor’s or higher within 10 years of initial licensure. Current registration to practice as a Licensed Registered Nurse in New York State. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. Excellent communication skills. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Nursing. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred. Physical Demands The employee will frequently communicate with patients, staff, and medical providers, and must be able to move around the office to assist them. Additional physical demands will be outlined by management.
