Quality Assurance (QA) Analyst
$70k - $90kVeilant
Quality Assurance (QA) AnalystSystem High is a wholly owned subsidiary of Veilant, delivering advanced protection and secrecy solutions that secure and strengthen critical missions, programs, and intelligence activities. We support some of the nation's most sensitive efforts, and our team plays a direct role in protecting what matters most. As part of Veilant, System High combines deep mission expertise with the resources and capabilities of a broader organization focused on protecting and advancing critical national security missions.I prefer "System High is a wholly owned subsidiary of Veilant" over "System High, a Veilant Company" here. It removes any ambiguity about the relationship between the two companies, which is especially important when candidates arrive through a Veilant-branded career site.Job DescriptionWe're building something new at System High. As our Quality Assurance Analyst, you'll work alongside a small product team to test, challenge, and strengthen a new software capability as it moves toward market. This is a hands-on software QA role with visibility across the development lifecycle. You'll test new functionality, uncover defects and edge cases, evaluate whether features behave as intended, and work directly with developers and the Product Owner to resolve issues before release. You won't be joining a large QA organization where every process has already been defined for you. Our product team is intentionally lean, and we want someone who is comfortable taking ownership, asking questions, and digging into how a product actually works. You don't need years and years of QA experience. You do need some hands-on software testing experience, an understanding of modern software development practices, and the curiosity to find the things others may have missed. What You'll DoYou'll work directly with the Product Owner and development team as new functionality moves from development through testing and toward release.Perform hands-on manual and functional testing of new and updated software capabilities.Develop, execute, and maintain test cases and test scenarios based on requirements, workflows, and user stories.Test functionality incrementally throughout development and perform more comprehensive testing as the product approaches release.Identify defects, unexpected behavior, workflow issues, edge cases, and usability concerns and clearly communicate what you find.Validate fixes and conduct regression testing to ensure changes haven't introduced new issues.Serve as an important quality checkpoint, identifying issues as functionality moves through review and before it reaches the Product Owner.Work within Git/GitHub-based development workflows, including repositories, pull requests, merges, and associated CI/CD processes.Review automated and unit-test coverage from a QA perspective and identify scenarios that may not be adequately tested.Support testing of internal APIs and third-party integrations, including integrations with cloud environments such as AWS and Azure.Participate in weekly sprint activities and collaborate with the team using Agile/Scrum development practices.Create and maintain clear QA and technical documentation covering test scenarios, defects, results, workflows, and product behavior.Develop an understanding of the cybersecurity concepts behind the product so you can evaluate not only whether functionality works, but whether it works as intended. What Success Looks LikeWe want you to understand what you're being hired to accomplish—not just what will appear on your task list.In your first 30–60 days, you'll get immersed in the product. You'll learn the source material and existing documentation, become familiar with the mock front end and expected workflows, understand our established development process, and begin independently testing functionality as it becomes ready for review.Within your first six months, you'll be a trusted quality partner to the product team and will have played a meaningful role in moving the product toward its planned MVP release.By then, you should know the product well enough to go beyond asking, "Does this feature work?" You'll be asking: Does it work the way it should? What happens when something goes wrong? What edge cases haven't we considered? Is this truly ready to move forward?QualificationsWhat You'll BringWe care more about whether you can do the work than whether you meet an arbitrary number of years of experience.Hands-on experience with software quality assurance or software testing in a professional, internship, military, academic, or comparable technical environment.Experience performing manual and functional software testing.Experience creating or executing test cases and documenting software defects.Understanding of defect identification, validation, retesting, and regression testing.Familiarity with Git and Git-based software development workflows.Working knowledge of CI/CD concepts and pipelines.Ability to interpret requirements, user stories, workflows, and expected application behavior.Ability to communicate defects and quality concerns clearly and collaborate effectively with software developers.Strong written communication and technical documentation skills.Initiative, self-discipline, and the ability to manage your work effectively in a remote environment.Curiosity and the ability to learn an unfamiliar technical domain from existing documentation.Even Better If You HaveYou don't need everything below to be successful. These are advantages, not a checklist.Experience with GitHub Projects or similar development tracking tools.Experience with AWS, Azure, or other cloud environments.API or third-party integration testing experience.Familiarity with automated testing and unit-testing concepts.Experience working within Agile/Scrum development teams.Exposure to cybersecurity or Zero Trust concepts.Familiarity with AI-assisted development or testing tools.Experience using Figma or validating applications against UI/UX designs and mockups.Familiarity with application security testing or scanning tools such as Fortify.Additional InformationYour TeamYou'll join a small System High product team bringing together product ownership, back-end development, AI integration, front-end development, and quality assurance. That structure gives you visibility across the development lifecycle and direct access to the people making product decisions.QA here isn't something that happens after development is finished. You'll get involved as functionality becomes testable, provide another set of eyes as work moves through review, and help the team determine when the product is genuinely ready to move forward. For someone looking to grow their QA career, that means an opportunity to gain broad product exposure and meaningful ownership instead of being limited to one small part of a much larger testing organization.Work EnvironmentThis is a full-time, 100% remote position with System High. You'll collaborate regularly with the Product Owner and development team in a remote environment. Regular travel is not expected, although occasional travel may be requested for activities such as product demonstrations. Why System HighThis is an opportunity to join while the product is still being built. You'll work close to the technology and the people building it, expand your technical QA capabilities, gain exposure to cybersecurity-focused software, and see the direct impact of your work as the team moves toward its first major release. If you're naturally curious, detail-oriented, comfortable challenging assumptions, and the kind of person who asks "What happens if…?", you'll have an opportunity here to make an impact. What is the Compensation Range for this role? The salary range for this position is $70,000 - $90,000 annually for full-time status. Actual compensation within this range at Veilant is determined by numerous factors including but not limited to the candidate's qualifications, including experience, education, certifications, technical skills, as well as contract-specific affordability and labor categories, the scope and responsibilities of the role, market and business considerations, and geographic location. Here are some Perks at System High! Benefits That Support Your Life and CareerMedical, dental, vision, and prescription coverage options.Paid time off that grows with tenure, plus 11 paid holidays annually.A 401(k) retirement savings plan and financial planning guidance.Up to $5,250 annually in tuition assistance for approved coursework.Support for professional training and certifications.
