Technical Applications Engineer - HDPE

Salary: $97,000.08 - 155,200.08 per year Requirements:

• We require a bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline.
• We prefer a Professional Engineer (PE) license, or the ability to obtain licensure.
• We need at least 5 years of engineering or technical experience supporting industrial piping systems, municipal infrastructure, process piping, mechanical systems, or HDPE applications.
• We prefer experience with HDPE piping systems, thermoplastic materials, or engineered piping products.
• We need working knowledge of ASTM, AWWA, ASME, FM, NSF, PPI, and other applicable industry standards.
• We require experience interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
• We need a strong understanding of fabrication methods, butt fusion, electrofusion, and thermoplastic joining technologies.
• We require excellent presentation, technical writing, and communication skills.
• We prefer experience with AutoCAD, Revit, or similar engineering software.
• We value strong engineering problem-solving and analytical skills.
• We value the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• We require the ability to travel approximately 40% to 60% across North America, with occasional overnight trips.

• We build relationships with engineering firms, consulting engineers, municipalities, industrial end users, OEMs, and project owners to position our company as the preferred engineered plastics partner.
• We engage with projects during the concept and design stages to shape specifications and expand long-term opportunities.
• We provide technical guidance on HDPE and engineered thermoplastic piping systems, including material selection, application recommendations, system layouts, joining methods, and industry standards.
• We support engineering firms with system design, pipe sizing, routing recommendations, fusion methods, pressure ratings, and installation guidance.
• We help engineers create or refine project specifications that align with industry standards and our fabrication and engineering capabilities.
• We develop value-engineered solutions that improve performance while lowering total installed cost.
• We prepare and review technical submittals, calculations, drawings, engineering packages, and supporting documentation needed for approvals.
• We support our sales teams with technical expertise through project development, specification, bidding, and construction phases.
• We coordinate with Regional HDPE Coordinators, Product Specialists, the National Rental Center, fabrication facilities, and GM Sales - HDPE to ensure smooth execution.
• We capture and maintain project pipeline data in our CRM systems to strengthen forecasting and strategic planning.
• We deliver engineering presentations, lunch-and-learns, technical seminars, and educational workshops for consulting engineers, municipalities, contractors, and our associates.
• We represent our company at engineering associations, industry conferences, design-build events, and technical forums.
• We maintain deep technical expertise in HDPE, PP-RCT, PP, PVDF, ECTFE, PFA, double containment systems, and fusion technologies.
• We stay current on ASTM, AWWA, ASME, FM, NSF, ISO, PPI, and related standards.
• We provide technical troubleshooting and engineering consultation throughout project development and construction.
• We partner with fabrication facilities to develop engineered solutions for custom fittings, assemblies, manifolds, and specialty applications.
• We support new product development, technical documentation, installation standards, and engineering best practices.
• We serve as the technical link between manufacturers, engineering firms, contractors, and our associates throughout each project lifecycle.
