Speech and Language Pathologist - Temporary Position Covering Maternity Leave

Speech And Language Pathologist
The Speech and Language Pathologist (SLP) provides direct therapy and consultation services to students identified with disabilities in articulation, receptive and expressive language, fluency, and/or voice disorders. The SLP conducts special education evaluations with other team members to identify eligible students.
Responsibilities include conducting screenings, evaluations and writing reports for students referred for special education to assist in determining eligibility for special education. Leads team in the creation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) with measurable goals and facilitates these IEP meetings. Facilitates process for obtaining and implementing use of assistive technology (AAC) devices, and creates materials for students' devices. Delivers direct and consultative school speech and language therapy as specified in students' IEPs. Completes special education documentation regarding students' therapy, as required by law, district policy and administrative regulations. This includes daily progress notes, progress reports and monthly Medicaid billing. Assists school staff in developing and implementing accommodations to allow students with speech and language disabilities to be successful within the school setting. Supports districts' MTSS-A, MTSS-B and trauma-informed practices. Attends team meetings such as SST and special education team meetings to discuss individual students.
Qualifications include current Speech-Language Pathology Licensure in Michigan with ASHA certification. Working knowledge of the principles, practices and ethical standards of Speech and Language Pathologists, as well as relevant state and federal laws, rules and regulations. Ability to communicate ideas clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing. Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with students, staff, and parents. Ability to balance multiple demands and prioritize activities to meet deadlines.
Schedule: School Year working at Roosevelt/Quincy Elementary Schools. Temporary position. This position will be.60 FTE to cover a maternity leave from 8/31/26 - 11/23/26.
