Johnson Service Group (JSG) is seeking a Water Utility Operator I or II. This is a hands-on field position responsible for maintaining water infrastructure, troubleshooting equipment, performing preventative maintenance, and helping ensure a reliable supply of safe drinking water.

• Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair water distribution and production equipment and infrastructure.
• Install and repair water mains, service lines, hydrants, valves, meters, and related components.
• Inspect wells, reservoirs, pumps, motors, and water treatment equipment.
• Collect water quality samples, perform basic testing, and assist with chemical feed adjustments.
• Perform preventative maintenance and mechanical repairs on pumps, motors, valves, and related systems.
• Assist with monitoring water systems using SCADA and related instrumentation.
• Operate construction equipment, power tools, and maintenance vehicles.
• Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, water quality testing, and daily activities.
• Follow established safety procedures, including traffic control and safe equipment operation.
• Participate in mandatory standby rotations and respond to emergency calls, including outside normal working hours.

Qualifications & Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in water systems, construction, maintenance, or related mechanical/electrical equipment.
• Water distribution or production experience preferred.
• Valid U.S. driver's license.

Operator II – Experienced Level

• High school diploma or equivalent; additional vocational or technical training in water utility operations, mechanical maintenance, or related fields.
• Minimum 2 years of progressively responsible experience in water distribution or production operations, maintenance, installation, and repair.
• California Water Distribution Grade D3 certification required.
• California Water Treatment Grade T2 certification required.
• California Class A driver's license required.
• Ability to work independently, troubleshoot equipment, and exercise sound judgment in field operations.

Additional Requirements

• Ability to perform physically demanding fieldwork, including lifting, climbing, bending, and operating equipment.
• Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions and around mechanical equipment and chemicals.
• Ability to maintain accurate records and communicate effectively with coworkers, contractors, and the public.
