Job Description
The Payroll Specialist will play a critical role within the human resources and finance/accounting teams, ensuring that all payroll processing is smooth, efficient, and fully compliant. The ideal candidate brings extensive knowledge of payroll regulations, strong HCM system reporting proficiency, and a proactive approach to process improvement.
Key Responsibilities:

• Process bi-weekly payroll for exempt and nonexempt employees, including commission and bonus payrolls, while reviewing, approving, and reconciling payroll data for timely and accurate payment.
• Calculate and enter additional compensation such as incentives, adjustments, retro pay, and expense reimbursements.
• Process voluntary and involuntary deductions, including federal and state tax levies, child support, and creditor garnishments in accordance with federal and state law.
• Prepare manual checks for terminations and discrepancies in accordance with company policy.
• Process and administer year-end payroll reconciliations and W-2s.
• Perform all required statistical and administrative duties necessary to calculate and prepare payrolls.
• Partner with HR, Finance, Accounting, Sales, and Operations to coordinate payroll-related activities and resolve cross-functional issues affecting employee pay.
• Conduct routine data-integrity checks on payroll data.
• Manage data reporting and auditing responsibilities, including federal EEO-1 filings, benefits statement design and distribution, compensation/benefit survey submissions, and HCM system auditing.
• Facilitate implementation of payroll-related system upgrades and trainings.
• Analyze and audit current systems for accuracy, edit data as needed, and recommend improvements or enhancements to achieve business objectives and increase self-sufficiency. Support employees, supervisors, and HR with self-service tools, how-to manuals, and training.
• Research, investigate, and resolve payroll-related problems, corrections, and questions.
• Suggest new procedures and policies to improve employee experience and departmental efficiency.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:

• 3 to 5 years of payroll experience along with a high school diploma or GED (an equivalent combination of education and professional experience will also be considered).
• Proven experience in administrative roles within Finance, HR, or Accounting, with emphasis on payroll processing.
• Established background managing multi-state U.S. payroll operations for a workforce exceeding 250 employees.
• Comprehensive understanding of employer and employee payroll tax obligations.
• In-depth familiarity with advanced payroll practices, including Prevailing Wage expertise and administration.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Finance, HR, Accounting, Business, or a related field.
• Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) or Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) status.
• Experience with Paycor HCM/HRIS.
• Expertise in HR systems and procedures.
• Proactive team-oriented mindset with a strong sense of ownership over workspace and performance objectives.
