The Aircraft Worker makes repairs to aircraft following orders of higher grade worker, assists in troubleshooting malfunctions in aircraft structure, landing gear, flight surfaces and controls, anti-icing, pneudraulic, engines, auxiliary power unit, and ventilation and heating systems. Responsibilities

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Make repairs to aircraft following orders of higher grade worker Removes, cleans, reinstalls, or replaces defective parts, accessories, and components such as worn gaskets, couplings, and fittings; bad actuators, accumulators, gauges, sections of corroded fuel and oil lines, work cable pulleys, frayed spark plug cables, and burned-out landing lights, using hand tools. Makes adjustments and settings such as cable tension and seat movement settings and adjustments Obtains standard parts such as fuel and oil line connections and fittings, cable linkage, and spark plug cables and harnesses by referring to parts manuals and by making comparisons with samples. Services engines and aircraft components at line station making repairs, short of overhaul Required to keep aircraft in safe operating condition Required to perform inspections to include daily and turnarounds and post flight checks Have full knowledge of aircraft related hazardous materials and their use. OTHER or ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES Perform other job related duties as may be assigned. Qualifications Knowledge & Skills Knowledge of systems related to individual specialty codes Ability to use military and company publications, drawings, blueprints, microfilm and diagrams Knowledge of supply procedures. Possess a valid US State driver's license. Ability to read and interpret data is required. Ability to read, write, speak and understand English. Ability to obtain a Government flight line driver’s license. Experience & Education High School degree or equivalent required. This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense Secret level security clearance. Minimum of three (3) years actual and recent experience in the repair, modification, maintenance and overhaul of systems related to individual specialty codes. A & P and FCC Licenses are desirable, but are not a requirement. Personnel within this classification must be specialized in one or more of the following SCA Occupational Codes: 23070 Aircraft Worker 05040 Automotive Worker 23980 Woodworker 05160 Motor Equipment Metal Worker This list is not complete, but representative of some of the SCA Occupational Codes that are used. Physical Requirements/Working Environment May work in Aircraft maintenance hangar or outside. May be required to respond to a wide variety of operational circumstances, including extreme weather conditions and rudimentary infrastructure. May be exposed to extreme noise from turbine and jet engine aircraft. May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles; may be exposed to electrical shock hazards or work near moving mechanical parts, vehicles, or aircraft. Must be able to walk and stand on level and/or inclined surfaces for certain periods throughout the day. Must be able to climb stairs, ramps, ladders, and work stands. Must be able to crouch, crawl, grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow/knee and reach above/below shoulders. May be required to lift up to 50 pounds. May be required to see aircraft in flight, read dials/gauges, identify small objects and hand tools. Must be able to see imperfections, micrometer readings and other small scales. Must be able to communicate by voice and detect sound by ear. Must be able to distinguish color and judge three-dimensional depth. May be required to operate power vehicles, machinery, hand tools, ground support equipment, fork lift, APU, etc. Travel May vary by location. The salary range provided is intended to display the value of the company’s base pay compensation for locations in the state of Maryland and may be modified at the discretion of the company.
