Job Description

The Fluid Plant Supervisor is responsible for leading shift operations while driving continuous improvement initiatives and maintaining high standards in safety, quality, and operational efficiency. This role requires proactive leadership, strong decision-making skills, and a hands-on approach to managing daily production activities.

The Supervisor ensures all team members adhere to established procedures, identifies and implements process improvements, and collaborates across departments to maintain a productive and safe work environment. A strong focus on coaching, accountability, and performance optimization is essential for success in this role.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Operational Leadership
• Achieve production goals and schedules established by management.
• Oversee employee scheduling to ensure proper staffing levels.
• Monitor daily production performance and evaluate plant efficiencies.
• Address operational issues in real time to minimize downtime and maintain productivity.
• Perform basic maintenance and troubleshooting as needed to support operations.
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless plant operations.
• Continuous Improvement & Process Management
• Continuously monitor work instructions, processes, and equipment to identify improvement opportunities.
• Develop and update work instructions and process logs as needed.
• Corrective actions
• Audits
• IFSA requirements
• Safety Committee projects
• Drive accountability for completing assigned improvement initiatives.

 

Safety & Quality Oversight

• Enforce all Grassland Safety Policies, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), work instructions, and standard operating procedures.
• Ensure strict adherence to food safety and regulatory requirements.
• Conduct weekly employee meetings covering safety, quality, and operational efficiency.
• Promote a culture of safety awareness and continuous quality improvement.

 

Team Leadership & Development

• Handle all departmental discipline and performance evaluations.
• Coach, mentor, and develop team members to improve skill sets and performance.
• Foster accountability and ownership among employees.
• Maintain high morale and motivation throughout the department.
• Lead by example with a positive, confident, and professional attitude.
