divh2Purchasing Manager/h2pThe procurement and purchasing team members are critical to ensuring production materials are sourced at the lowest cost while maintaining quality standards and consistently delivered on time to meet production schedules./ppAt the plant level, the purchasing manager coordinates with corporate procurement as well as identifies and maintains local and regional suppliers of materials working to optimize the cost, quality, and reliability of the supply chain. He/she supervises purchasing agents who coordinate day to day material and supply purchases. This role retains complete accountability for execution and continuous improvement of a business process and development and coaching of the team responsible for that process. He/she is accountable for mapping, documenting, reengineering, quality assurance, staffing, metrics, controls, risk identification, and service level expectations. The majority of this roles effort is spent supervising two or more employees and managing overall team expectations./ppstrongEssential Duties Responsibilities/strong/pulliReviews requisitions./liliConfers with vendors to obtain product or service information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule./liliSelects products for purchase by testing, observing, or examining items./liliLead, coach, mentor and train staff Estimates values according to knowledge of market price./liliDetermines method of procurement such as direct purchase or bid./liliPrepares purchase orders or bid requests./liliReviews bid proposals and negotiates contracts within budgetary limitations and scope of authority./liliMaintains procurement records such as items or services purchased costs, delivery, product quality or performance, and inventories./liliDiscusses defective or unacceptable goods or services with inspection or quality assurance personnel, users, vendors, and others to determine source of trouble and take corrective action./liliApproves invoices for payment./liliVerifies specifications of purchase requests./liliCounts inventory items to determine if material on hand is in sufficient quantity./liliPrepares purchase orders and sends to supplier and department originating request./liliComputes total cost of items purchased./liliConfers with suppliers concerning late deliveries./liliVerifies bills from suppliers with bids and purchase orders and approves bills for payment./liliExpedites delivery of goods to users./liliMeets production requirements on a daily basis while controlling inventory levels with various lead times./liliAssists heavily with periodic plant inventory./li/ulpstrongMinimum Qualifications/strong/pulliBachelors degree preferred/liliAt least 5 - 8 years of work experience in purchasing and/or costing/liliEffective time management skills/liliStrong attention to detail and analytical skills/liliExcellent verbal and written communication skills/liliAbility to work in a fast-paced environment and multi-task/liliDemonstrate a good work ethic based on principles of honesty and integrity/liliExperience with Microsoft Office/li/ulpEqual Opportunity Employer This employer is required to notify all applicants of their rights pursuant to federal employment laws.
