Production Supervisor
(Direct Placement for Client) SIGMA DESIGN has collaborated with a global company seeking an experienced Production Supervisor to join their facility in Gresham, OR. This company has been operating for over 50 years and is recognized as the world’s leading lab diamond and super-materials producer. Primary Function:
The Production Supervisor oversees day to day production operations, ensuring production plans are executed safely, efficiently, and on schedule. Reporting to the Operations Manager, this role provides leadership to production personnel, monitors output and material flow, troubleshoots production issues, and coordinates with Maintenance and other support teams. The position also drives process improvements and independently manages projects that support production efficiency and performance.

Essential Job Functions - Responsibilities:

• Create and manage production plans to meet output, quality, and delivery targets.
• Lead daily production operations through Line Leads, providing direction and ensuring work is executed according to the production plan.
• Monitor production performance, workflow, and material flow to identify schedule deviations, delays, and potential production issues.
• Troubleshoot production problems and coordinate with Maintenance, Engineering, MES, and other support teams to resolve issues and minimize disruption.
• Conduct shift handoffs with other Production Supervisors, communicating production status, schedule changes, outstanding issues, and priorities.
• Supervise and coach production employees, including providing direction, training, performance feedback, and accountability.
• Participate in hiring, scheduling, timecard approval, vacation approval, and other personnel and administrative activities as assigned.
• Maintain a strong focus on safety and promote a production environment where employees are valued, supported, and held accountable to expectations.
• Monitor equipment, materials, and production workflow to support efficient operations and maintain required output.
• Ensure production tickets, issues, and required floor administration are kept current and appropriately addressed.
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and participate in projects using Lean Six Sigma, 6S, or other applicable methodologies.
• Take ownership of assigned improvement projects focused on optimizing production processes, workflow, and team performance.
• Independently manage daily responsibilities, prioritize competing needs, and resolve routine production problems with limited direction.
• Make timely, practical decisions and provide clear guidance to Line Leads and production personnel.
• Perform production tasks or other duties as required and assigned by the Operations Manager.

Education and Experience: (Knowledge, skills, & abilities)

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Previous experience in a production, manufacturing, or similar operational environment.
• Previous leadership, supervisory, or team lead experience preferred.
• Experience participating in or leading continuous improvement initiatives.
• High level understanding of production areas, including material flow, production cadence, and key quality points.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast moving production environment and make decisions under pressure.
• Ability to lead change and adapt to changing production priorities.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across Production, Maintenance, Engineering, MES, and other functions.
• Demonstrated ability to make clear, timely decisions and provide explicit direction to others.
• Strong practical problem solving skills with the ability to identify issues, determine solutions, and follow through independently.
• Self starter with the ability to manage daily responsibilities and priorities with limited direction.
• Demonstrated ownership and accountability for completing assigned responsibilities and achieving production objectives.
• Ability to coach, train, motivate, and provide constructive feedback to production employees.
• Ability to understand and apply Lean Six Sigma or 6S methodologies to support continuous improvement.
• Experience with cycle counts, ERP systems, work orders, or other production management systems preferred.
• Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel.
• Ability to consider the broader organizational impact of decisions and simplify solutions where appropriate.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift 25+ pounds as required.

Work Environment
LAB: Standard lab/production environment. Appropriate safety garments (PPE) must be worn. Occasionally may be required to work in environmental conditions that emulate typical user environments in order to facilitate design testing and validation. Occasionally may be required to travel as required to other facilities, clients or suppliers. Must be able to stand and work as long as 12 hours in different positions. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted.
