Role Description The Prevention Specialist is a part-time, on‑site role based in Broward County, focused on supporting homeless youth and individuals with mental health needs through preventive services. Day‑to‑day responsibilities include conducting risk assessments, developing and implementing prevention plans, and facilitating educational workshops on safety, wellness, and coping strategies. The role involves coordinating with social workers, counselors, and community organizations to connect clients with appropriate resources and services. The Prevention Specialist will monitor client progress, maintain accurate documentation, and contribute to program evaluation and improvement. This position also requires active participation in outreach efforts, safety planning, and crisis response, while maintaining a trauma‑informed, culturally responsive approach. Qualifications Candidates should possess strong Communication skills, including the ability to build rapport with youth, explain complex information clearly, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams. Candidates should possess solid Analytical Skills to assess risk factors, interpret data, and develop effective prevention strategies tailored to individual and community needs. Candidates should possess Prevention and Occupational Health skills to design programs that reduce harm, promote wellness, and support safe environments for clients and staff. Candidates should possess Security‑related awareness to help ensure safe facilities, manage potential risks, and support crisis intervention protocols. Relevant qualifications include experience in social services, mental health, or youth programs; knowledge of trauma‑informed care; and familiarity with community resources in Miami, FL. A bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, public health, or a related field is preferred, along with basic computer literacy and accurate record‑keeping skills.
