For more information about C&F, please visit our website: Job Description The candidate will work with the Specialty Analytics department within the Enterprise Risk Management team to support all divisions of C&F with identifying, quantifying and managing their risks. The role will be responsible for continued development of C&F’s ERM framework, with particular emphasis on corporate underwriting audit, exception reporting, aggregation management, and underwriting risk governance. The position will work closely with business unit leadership, underwriting leaders, and senior management to promote a consistent, disciplined approach to risk versus reward across C&F’s nearly $6 billion of annual gross written premium.The ideal candidate will bring deep commercial insurance experience, including either direct underwriting experience or experience in a home office underwriting, underwriting governance, or underwriting audit capacity. This role is well suited for a professional who combines strong underwriting judgment with enterprise-level risk, control, and analytical thinking.What you will do:Oversee the corporate underwriting audit framework across the organization, establishing standards, methodologies, reporting expectations, and governance processes to ensure consistent execution across business divisionsHelp establish consistent approaches to underwriting risk assessment, audit methodology, and exception governance across the organizationIdentify, quantify, and manage risks to the organization; engage with a variety of specialist teams and senior leadership to develop and implement risk management strategiesSupport and enhance C&F’s enterprise risk management frameworks, tools, and reporting capabilities across specialty and commercial insurance operationsOversee the development, validation, and ongoing enhancement of exception reporting, including identifying opportunities for automation and improved reporting efficiencyAssist in setting corporate tolerances around aggregations of exposures; monitor reporting of these metrics to ensure corporate tolerances are not breachedDevelop knowledge of C&F’s various business units and productsKeep up to date with developing trends and emerging risks; evaluate the potential impact of these risks to the organizationWhat you will bring to C&F:Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management/Insurance, Mathematics, Finance or related field or equivalent experiences10+ years of commercial insurance experience requiredDirect underwriting and/or home office underwriting experience requiredStrong understanding of commercial underwriting principles, underwriting authority frameworks, and portfolio risk management concepts.Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across functions and influence stakeholders at multiple levels of the organizationProfessional designations such as CPCU, ARM, AU, or similar are a plus. The annualized base pay for the advertised position, located in the specified area, ranges from a minimum of $122,500.00 to a maximum of $179,600.00. The actual compensation is determined by various factors, including but not limited to the market pay for the jobs at each level, the responsibilities and skills required for each job, and the employee’s contribution (performance) in that role. To be considered within market range, a salary is at or above the minimum of the range.
