Project Manager

It is inspiring to work in an organization where individuals are deeply committed to the mission and values that drive our success.We are dedicated to delivering expert pension service to Illinois public educators as they earn their promised retirement security.Under the direction of the PMO Manager, the Project Manager is responsible for planning and managing the execution of organizational projects within the pension system, to meet strategic objectives and to ensure project delivery on time and on budget.Essential Functions:Plan and oversee all project work in support of the goals of the project stakeholders.Organize and facilitate team meetings.Develop, manage, and update Project Plan and other project documents (e.g., Communication Plan, Risk Plan, Stakeholder Register, Resource Plan), following standard project management methodology.Manage the execution of the Project Schedule to ensure project scope and applicable milestones are met.Monitor project progress, budgets, and timelines.Provide management oversight of project deliverables, status, budget, risks and concerns through regular status reporting.Promote change readiness and adoption across all stakeholders.Manage project scope across the team to ensure that changes to deliverables are handled appropriately.Proactively identify and assess project risks, develop mitigation strategies, and escalate issues as needed.Lead and oversee development of all deliverables, status reports, and other work products.Knowledge, Skill, Ability:Excellent communication skills and ability to communicate to all levels; strong work ethic; driven to achieve deadlines and deliverables; self-motivated; strong planning skills; ability to engage team members and get desired resultsAbility to resolve conflict for the team and within the team; influencing internal stakeholdersExposure to technical concepts, tools & principlesKnowledge of both Waterfall and Agile project management is preferredMinimum Requirements:Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Project Management, or related field, or 5 years experience in lieu of degreePMP certification is highly desirableMinimum of 3 years of experience in project managementExperience with Scrum Agile and Waterfall Project Management FrameworksExperience managing IT projects involving cross functional teams preferredStrong understanding of pension systems, financial services, IT infrastructure, preferredExcellent communication, and stakeholder management skillsExperience with Project Management tools such as Azure Devops, Microsoft ProjectOrganizational Change Management experience is highly desirableKnowledge of Agile Software Development Life Cycle is strongly preferredIf you thrive in a dynamic environment and enjoy collaborating with driven, enthusiastic professionals, you will find a rewarding career with us.For Illinois job seekers:Pay Range$92,295.10 - $143,980.00Compensation will be determined based on the qualifications and experience of each candidate.BenefitsTRS is an agency of the State of Illinois.
