Optometrist - Killeen, TX

We are seeking a skilled and patient-focused Optometrist to join a well-established ophthalmology and eye care practice in Killeen, TX. The ideal candidate will have experience providing comprehensive eye care, managing medical eye conditions, and supporting pre- and post-operative care for ophthalmic procedures.

The practice specializes in medical eye care and surgery, including cataract care, diabetic eye disease, age-related macular degeneration (AMD), glaucoma management, and refractive procedures. The Optometrist will collaborate closely with ophthalmologists and other eye care professionals to deliver high-quality patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive eye examinations and routine medical eye visits.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with patients through excellent clinical care.
• Evaluate patients for LASIK and other refractive procedures and provide recommendations to ophthalmologists.
• Provide pre-operative and post-operative care for cataract, LASIK, and PRK patients.
• Support glaucoma management and participate in medical eye care protocols.
• Collaborate with ophthalmologists to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Work with clinical staff to improve patient flow, testing efficiency, and accurate refractions.
• Follow established medical protocols and clinical guidelines.
• Educate patients and caregivers regarding eye care, treatment plans, and home care instructions.
• Maintain accurate patient records and clinical documentation.
• Participate in co-management programs and special projects.
• Share on-call responsibilities with MD/OD staff.
• Represent the practice within the medical and local community.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited institution.
• Active Texas Optometry License or eligibility to obtain one before employment.
• Good standing with all applicable licensing authorities.
• Experience in medical optometry, surgical co-management, and pre/post-operative care preferred.
• Comfortable managing conditions such as cataracts, glaucoma, diabetic eye disease, and AMD.
• Optometric Glaucoma Specialist (OGS) certification preferred, or willingness to pursue OGS approval.
• Strong communication, clinical decision-making, and patient care skills.

Schedule

• Monday - Thursday: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
• Friday: 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM
