Bodily Injury Examiner (Claims Specialist)

Country-Wide, a downtown Manhattan property/casualty insurance company with state-of-the-art headquarters, is seeking a serious and articulate Bodily Injury Examiners. We are seeking 2 BI examiners: one relatively new in the position with at least one year experience and another for an examiner with 5+ years experience. The work involves the investigation and handling of personal auto claims and complex commercial auto bodily injury claims, from first report to conclusion, most of which occur in NYS. These matters are handled in accordance with NYS comparative negligence rules and are generally litigated in the New York State courts, particularly the 5 boroughs. The Company handles claims in an aggressive manner and the work will be satisfying and challenging. Your responsibilities will include all aspects of in-house investigation, analysis of exposure and defense strategy, negotiations with adversaries, all involving close communication with our own defense counsel. Candidates receive strong support from friendly and helpful colleagues, attorneys and management as they become familiar with our system and throughout the years. Candidates mut be well organized and possess good writing skills. Complete documentation of everything that transpires in a case must be maintained in all files. Good communication with colleagues and adversaries is also essential, so candidates must be articulate and able to discuss situations in a clear and convincing manner, both in person and over the phone. Salary range $55,000 -$110,000, commensurate with experience.
