FOIA Specialist

Locations: National Capital Region (DC)

Education: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited U.S. college or university based on a 4-year course of study (degree in a relevant field of business, information management, contracting, or law is preferred). In lieu of a Bachelor's Degree, ten (10) years of experience in the Federal procurement or private sector.

Experience: A minimum of four (4) years of documented experience in FOIA Specialist positions. Qualifications should include:

• Demonstrated ability to use the Microsoft Suite of software applications (e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point, SharePoint, Outlook) to create and maintain documents and communications.
• Documented ability to maintain and practice operational security (OPSEC) in the performance of daily duties and to report OPSEC issues or concerns.
• Proven ability to interpret and apply procurement and transparency regulations, including the Federal Acquisition Regulation, Freedom of Information Act, Privacy Act, and/or other similar agency-specific procurement and transparency regulations.
• Demonstrated knowledge of analytical and qualitative techniques sufficient to identify, evaluate, and propose the use of appropriate strategies and solutions to resolve complex or interrelated FOIA problems and issues.
• Experience reviewing contract files or other government documentation.
• Experience developing documentation required to respond to FOIA requests.
• Possession of excellent written and verbal communication skills plus strong analytical and organizational skills and abilities.
• Demonstrated experience reviewing spreadsheets and documents in various formats such as those created and maintained in Microsoft Office products.
• Documented ability to apply different strategies when analyzing information to make reasonable inferences or draw well-supported conclusions.
• Experience managing procurement sensitive, law enforcement sensitive, or other secure information is preferred.
• Knowledge of and experience using government contract-writing software, such as PRISM, is preferred.

Security Requirements

• Must have a Secret Clearance.
• Must be a US Citizen.
• Must be able to pass a National Criminal Background Check.
